Not a single mask...

He may have had a medical issue in his defense.
Not all illnesses/conditions can be seen.
He didn't say so, just whined about being asked to wear one. Surely if you were asked (by the shopkeeper, not me) you would have said what your medical condition was, rather than whining about masks?

Did you call the person out for not wearing a mask? A polite reminder could have helped put everybody else in the store at ease.

I personally would not feel comfortable calling anyone out because of the exemptions in place, some of which are basically an individual's say so i.e. a mental (or other) health issue

No I didn't He was whining, like some on here, about not being able to breathe.

It's dissapointing.

Sick of hearing it from people its absolutely pathetic. Medical staff have to use them for 12 hour shifts and they still somehow manage to breath in them, 20 minutes in Asda isnt going to kill anyone if they dont have a medical condition preventing them from wearing one.

Maybes he did not feel comfortable talking about his medical condition to a person that isn't a doctor or a nurse? Or he could just not want to wear one. Will be hundreds of thousands of examples of this over the next 12-24 months.

I'd just let people get on, mask wearers and non mask wearers and avoid the shops if people deem it not safe.

Been to the little corner shop near me this morning, mask on, in and out in 2 minutes

Which mask did you choose :p

There is a fair bit of nonsense on this thread. The WHO changed their advice on mask wearing saying it could have a minimal beneficial impact in areas with high transmission rates. The 2 caveats are minimal impact and only in high transmission areas.

Their advice could have gone either way. Based on that loosely worded advice, anyone who doesn't immediately wear a mask is selfish and is potentially killing people. OK, if you say so.

In addition, the WHO make the point that the benefits may be minimal IF and only IF it is a three layer mask, absorbent, non woven and non-absorbent in that order from face to outside. How many of you mask wearers are making sure of that? If not are you also selfishly killing people?

Finally, if you have a reusable mask you have to wash the mask in boiling water, how many of you crusaders are doing that? I would assume so, given the vitriol dished out to non mask wearers. I mean you must have read the full report from the WHO, yes?

For the record I have a three layer mask which I wear. I am yet to be convinced it has any clinical benefits and I am very concerned about how people dispose of used masks.

Small town is a parody of himself here. Only been warring a mask a month but been shaming people who have for weeks

As soon as ST wears we have to by the looks of things

You weren’t wearing them until a few weeks before they were mandatory, surely you can understand why others haven’t been

Which goes back to my original issue with people in this country being inherently selfish. It's really sad.

ST people in this country are not inherently selfish, some may be, of course, but no more or less than in other countries. Most people are anything but selfish.

Why do we have such a vehement defence of not wearing a mask then? Why do less people wear masks here then anywhere else outside of the Americas? It's pure selfishness. No other way of describing something that could save the life of another because it feels "a bit uncomfortable"

Probably because the science behind pros and cons is all over the place. Same with government ministers.
I mean even Fauci doesn't seem to know what's what.

Well firstly do we? And do we?

I have no idea what France are like about wearing masks, I don't know if they comply and in what numbers. I don't know if they moan and complain, do you?

Do less people wear masks here than in other countries where it has only become mandatory today? What about France, keeping to the same example.

You are making sweeping statements with very little basis other than your own experience.

Apparently they are not so selfish in Guisborough! [EDIT]

Yes and yes. Someone posted the usage of masks previous on this website. As I recall, 36% of the country wear masks. which is lower than any other country in both Europa and Asia.
When masks were not mandatory and the message was and still is muddled. That does not equate to selfishness.
