North Macedonia v England - 7:45pm KO

One of the five best group winners. Beating Italy home and away. It’s been another excellent qualifying from England.

Two average performances to finish, but credit has to be given to the opposition. Both had very clear game plans and stuck to it.
It's really knocked the shine off with how bad we have been in these 2 games but the work was already done, bit like boro after we qualified for the playoffs with games to go.

Will be different I'm sure when we play sides that actually want to have a bit of a go at attacking again.

I do find it a bit worrying that we couldn't find the motivation to get out of 1st gear over both games.

Regardless of the situation, Southgate should be getting his players to keep pushing their boundaries, how can fringe players get a chance to shine when we have so little intent to play the fast attacking football we can?

We just seem to be playing with shackles on.

Not sure about that. When was the last time England beat Italy? They’ve done it twice with an excellent performance at Wembley. It’s games against the big teams England need to learn to win. That is the biggest point of qualification.

Regarding the Ukraine game. From one angle it looks like there is no contact. The other angle looks a clear foul.

Exactly this mate. Southgate is holding this team back now, I firmly believe it. There are some cracking players we have and they are not performing to the level they should be imho.

The overall campaign has been great and we're in pot 1, I just think it's a shame that we have been so lacklustre in these 2 games.

It will all be forgotten though when the main business starts in the summer.

Agree the performances have been poor but the players and management will know that too. Tonight was very frustrating for them. Not a great pitch, constant fouling from NM and a referee who all the players ended up perplexed by. Those games are a pain to perform in.

Was Joe Hart England's player of the tournament as England reached their first final in 60 years?
Sterling always performs at tournaments. No one can doubt that. Grealish will always be a ‘bit part player’ for city and England. Sterling can be a main man for Chelsea this season and get himself back in Gareth’s good books
