Nice things happen

Good for you AET....you will have a fab time. I know exactly how you feel though. When I put on your last thread about my big opportunity next week I've nearly turned down....I'm going to be on a TV game show and my episode is recording next week. God knows why I applied...I think it was the 4 gins...and I can't believe I've been picked after going through all the processes. But I've worried massively and now I too am having big stresses about driving to Manchester on my own etc etc....exactly the same feelings what you have mentioned. Mad isn't it, such positive things happening to us both and anxiety is trying to destroy that too
Now I could never go on TV
I’m far too self conscious. I hate seeing myself in photos and hearing my own voice.

Good luck though I readily admit I’ve never seen 1% club and have no idea who presents it 😂

I too am the same with photos....I hadn't thought about that, til now 🙈🙈🙈.
I love the programme and had an extremely rare "why not" moment that I've regretted more and more every step along the way....but I'm determined to go...and I'm determined to enjoy it.
It was on on a Saturday night about 8.30 and is hosted by Lee Mack

But i still can’t think positively !!

So about two years ago during the depths of lockdown I paid £5 into this and heard nothing.

I got an email this morning saying that because some people couldn’t attend (my first thought was it’s the rail strikes??) I was on the reserve list and could get entry.

So of course instead of going whoop whoop and celebrating, the mardy Bum that is depressed little AET goes into a massive deep depression and throws a strop that he can’t possibly go cos of the rail strikes and couldn’t possibly drive down to London because he’d only get lost and would get stressed driving in central london.

Anyway cut a long story short. One train an hour is running to London and I’m going with my brother.

So nice things sometimes happen.

That’s cracking. Plus you might get to spend some time in Camden which is the best bit of London in my opinion.

What processes did you have to go through? Were they checking your general knowledge or more to do with your personality and character?

I filled the application out and then got invited to a zoom interview with 6 others. We basically had to do a brief intro and then we did a version of the quiz with someone who works for the show.
I just tried to make myself upbeat and chatty...the others only really talked when giving their answers. I also gave an answer to a question, that was the wrong answer, but still fit which impressed the person doing the interview and then voila got the email 2 weeks ago to say I was in.

I'm doing the 1% club
Cracking show that! Loved the first series of it. No need to brick it for going on, there's 99 other contestants it's not like mastermind where you're exposed on your own. Go and enjoy it, and if you win some dosh, great stuff!

Lee Mack is a great host too!

It was Absolutely Fabulous. See what I did there ?

Although the venue was quite tiny, it’s basically a nightclub!!! It was packed out, long queues to get in (no tickets you had to have ID) and we stood at the back so view wasn’t great. Neil Tennant mentioned early on they were treating it as a rehearsal for their Glastonbury appearance tomorrow. Basically a stripped down version of their current tour with a shorter set list with no video projections just lighting. So a real occasion for a fanboy like me.

Oh and I had quite possibly the tastiest cheeseburger and chips and beer I’ve ever had from an Italian vendor at Camden market beforehand.

Good morning Aet.
I realise that I am just an anonymous name on a website, but your post has made me well chuffed this morning :).
It's great to hear that you had a good time and I am sure that loads of people on here feel the same way.

Nice one mate and Up the Boro (y)

If you have time while you’re down there, Camden Market has to be seen. Go to Arepazo Bros food stall and get the Arepa.

Best thing I have ever tasted.
