NFL - The new season approaches!

Looks like it could be all over for Rogers as reports don’t look good.

The four-time Most Valuable Player is believed to have suffered a torn Achilles after getting twisted up awkwardly on a sack during New York's first drive, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters in his postgame news conference.
"It's not good," Saleh said of the injury's outlook.
A confirmed diagnosis of an Achilles tear, which the Jets expect when he undergoes an MRI on Tuesday, would mean Rodgers is out for the season.

A rare occasion where 1 team wins but both teams lose!

Jets won’t be able to rely on special teams and D to win lots of games this season, losing Rodgers (if it’s confirmed as bad as feared) is a massive blow to them.

Really bad game for Allen, poor decision making cost his team.

Can't say I've warmed to Rogers during my time following the NFL, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Must be hard on the Jets fans for that to happen after a Summer of anticipation.

Yes indeed.

A bad weekend all round for the high profile quaterbacks. Rogers obviously having the worst of it, but Burrow, Allen and Herbert had stinkers, and Mahomes and Jackson were probably below par too.

Bit harsh that on Herbert, didn’t throw any picks and was pretty good really. His teams Defence continues to be the reason they don’t win a lot more games.

An interesting start in the AFC with all 3 powerhouse teams losing in week 1.

It could be argued that because the Chiefs were at home, their loss was more damaging. But then again, neither Buffalo nor Cincinnati had a marquee player missing. Hopefully once Kelce returns (next Sunday? 🤞) it will be business as usual for KC.

Yes, I'll take that back. I said it because I thought Chargers relied heavily on the run, but Herbert did ok really.

What I've found is that even though the teams have 3 pre-season games, they don't tend to play their big players. Though, I can understand why, as they won't want to risk them. But it means, essentially, their first full season game is their first appearance of the season. So no doubt not fully up to speed. I guess, it's just the way they have to play and potentially write off the first game.

Yes they only really play on the last game

The rest are basically a battle royal of those wanting to catch the eye and make a roster or practice team spot.

Three pre season games. First game, lot of first teamers play. Second, the ressies play. Third are the ones desperate to make the 53 man roster - "camp bodies", try outs, undrafted - most starters don't even suit up for the third game.

So always takes some teams a while to get going......bit early to write the Bills and Chiefs off just yet!

Thats not the case you have the order wrong.

No, the order is correct.

The final cuts are after the third pre season game, so the starters play first game, few play a couple of quarters of the second, then the ressies. Third game is the ressies / camp bodies.

Here's a link to a report of the Redskins, sorry Commanders, final pre-season game against the Bengals -

It’s confirmed that Rodgers tore his Achilles and is out for the season.

That's a shame. I think a lot of fans were looking forward to see how Rogers at the Jets played out.
For it to be cut short so soon is an anticlimax for all.

At his age, that could well be the end of his career too.
