NFL - The new season approaches!

As I am sat here preparing for the first of 2 fantasy drafts today, I thought I'd start a thread to distract those of us who like NFL away from thoughts of everything Boro.

So only 4 days until the start of the season, and I am really looking forward to it! As a Chiefs fan* I am obviously optimistic about our chances, although it looks like being another season where the WR and RB roles are performed by committee rather than by star players (suits Mahomes' style more I guess.....and he always has Kelce to turn to in times of trouble!), but who else is there to look out for? As usual, AFC looks like being more tightly contested than NFC in my opinion.

As I live in Chicago I'm interested to see how the Bears do. If Fields can make a decent start then I can see them possibly making this a winning season (just) and I'm also curious to see how recent strugglers NY Jets and Detroit Lions do. My boss is a Lions fan and I've always had a soft spot for them (going to see them with him in December when they are in town to play the Bears). I just hope Detroit don't get going until week 2!

Thoughts everyone? Who's your team? Who is gonna do well? Who is gonna bust?

* I find it really uncomfortable to tell people I am a Chiefs fan, as I assume I get the same reaction I give Americans when they tell me they support Man City or Arsenal. They've come a long way from the non-entity locally supported team playing in red and white and not followed by anyone outside of their home city (the Boro comparisons were half of the reason I was drawn to them...the other half was that a friend of mine was from KC and is an avid fan and was determined that I become a Chief when I arrived in the States in 2016).

I have only really dipped into NFL over the past 5/6 years since befriend a Giant fans in Mexico and keeping in touch so I cant go into the detail you do but I cant wait for it to start. I love the reaction you get from people when you say NFL and they say how S*** it is! I suppose I should be a Giants fan but I have been really drawn to the Seahawks the past two seasons, I dont know why because they've done nothing, I must just be glutton for punishment! I love the fact theres a 6pm game on a Sunday we can watch!

Giants.
Think we've overpaid Jones & Barkley and don't think we've added anything on the offensive side of the ball. Defense has improved though.
Our schedule is apparently harder than last year, so we'll finish 3rd in the NFC East & miss out on the playoffs by a game or two.

Second best team in New York this year?

Long suffering Redskins - sorry Commanders 🤢 - fan.

Going to be very competitive the NFC East, was the dumpster fire division of the NFL for a few seasons but now.......going to be tasty.

Whatever happens, Dan Snyder has gone, Josh Harris is doing all of the right things, fans have bought into it (FedEx sold out for the first game v the Cardinals 😳😳) so we're on a winning season already.

Still work to do on the pitch, OL and LB areas a bit weak, but hoping for a 9-8 season and a "chance" at reaching the playoffs.

Looking forward to the season 👍

I hope to see the AFC become more than the Chiefs division, although I think the Chargers and the Browns might give them s better push this season. Niners have had an interesting offseason with the trade of Trey Lance to the Cowboys for a 4th round pick although the Nick Bosa contract saga drags on.

Big Saints fan… son was a raiders fan until he found out Carr was moving and now he is a Saints fan too.

Other son is a Ravens fan… no idea why

Expecting big things from the Saints this season… massively under performed in previous years but all the pieces are slotting into place for a big year

Nearly my 40th season of following the Browns. Now if that’s not a glutton for punishment, I don’t know what is.

Looking forward to watching our D this year, new coordinator and a lot of good additions on the D Line.

If Watson gets back anywhere near his best then we should have a better year. Although the AFC north is pretty brutal, so week one against Burrow and the Bengals is a tough start.

When I lived in DC I used to go and watch the Ravens...amazing atmosphere in there, very partisan!

I'm sure there's a "happy ending" joke in there somewhere :D

Biggest joke in the US right now is that the Saints don’t have a QB!

Eagles fan. Been following them since the Andy Reid days. Been through a lot of bad since then but we seem to be putting our trust in Howie again (after the disaster of the chip Kelly years) and he’s building a great team.

Disappointed we didn’t resign Sanders as I thought he deserved it but RB seems to be getting undervalued every season now. Swift and a healthy Raashad Penny should more than cover it. On D I’m a bit worried about the linebackers but overall the birds should have enough to win the East and once in the playoffs who knows. Go Birds!! 🦅
