Newcastle Utd

I could see it being good for Boro if they did win it eventually.
Players who dont know much about or where Middlesbrough is... like this Henry fella, would see its close to Newcastle and would be more tempted with the North East if the Champions are just up the road. If its good enough for X player then it cant be that bad, kind of thing,
Im also getting bored of Man City winning it all now, like the days when it was all Man Utd, then Arsenal had a long spell, and also Chelsea.

Good to mix it up evet now and then
That’s rubbish all it will benefit is Newcastle.

It will also pull all the young talent in as well.

Have Man City benefitted Bolton or Oldham or even Stockport???

There is zero benefit to us.

In fact it will make the The north even more a Newcastle stronghold you’ll see kids in the boro wearing Newcastle tops etc.

Top ten for them next year I reckon, be interesting to see what happens if/when Howe struggles will they be quick to sack or show faith? That will test their ownership, they are a long way from being able to pull in a really top international manager and I still have some doubts about Howe, though he did do a surprisingly good job last season.

I agree with JediBoro there is no bonus to Boro from having a financially dominant "super team" that close.

I think it'll all end in tears tbh. Remember Bobby Robson had them top 5, and it still wasn't good enough.

If they don't win anything within the next 3 or 4 years, there'll be demonstrations outside the ground, and that's the last thing the Saudi sportswashing regime will want. The "we want our club back" and "we just want a club that tries" was utter BS aimed at Ashley, now they're 'rich' their narrative will revert to type.

The top 5 is spoken for,Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal.. The other places are up for grabs
Man Utd finished on 59pts and apart from the manager are not really changing anything, the Mags finished on 49pts and did not have a 1st half of the season. They can definitely make 6th but not further this season.

Even with all their money i can probs see them not winning anything in the next 10 years. Maybe possibly a league cup for them if draw is kind enough to avoid the big guns.

It'll make me sick when they start winning stuff, because look at the City, PSG and Liverpool shirts you see in town now, it'll be worse when its them lot just purely because they're only up the road. I take my kids to footy and at training there was only ever Boro, England and the odd Barca top 5 year ago, now the same kids are in Man City and Liverpool tops, that'll become Newcastle if they start competing and attracting big names. Sickening

Top half is a possibility.

Howe will be sacked before the end of the season as this will not be enough to meet the owners ambitions.

However, I do think they're building the right way; you can't get a load of money and start buying superstars. Apart from the Robinho error, Man City built a platform, signing the likes of Gareth Barry, Bellamy, Given, Lescott: good PL players, but not world beaters. Only once that's established can you take it further.

Defensively they look solid and the midfield looks ok, however, i think they will lack goals with the current attack. I don't think Wilson has a full season in him, Wood wont get any better and if anything the way the club is going it is further away from his strengths and who knows what they will get from ASM.

With that, i can see them doing a bit of a Wolves, a tough game for everyone but also probably drop a few points due to not killing teams off. That said, they may sign another forward but with another midfielder linked they may have to get rid of some of the deadwood to free up spends based on the 200m that was rumoured available.

I think 8th would be a good finish - i cant see anybody disturbing City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal for the top 5 positions. I still have Man Utd as finishing 6th and a few teams could be consisting 7th - 9th, one of which being Newcastle. As said above, the sensible thing would be a League Cup triumph and good FA Cup journey, important to get that first bit of silver wear under their belt for this new era and a nail a European campaign for the following season.

Absolutely dreading it

I hate to say this but I can see the toon doing very well, They have a very good defense, midfield is looking strong especially now that Paqueta has handed a transfer request in.
I can see Newcastle signing him.
They have a good forward with Wilson if he can stay fit, maybe need another forward on loan.

I can see them finishing in the top 6

FFS
Why would they need to loan a forward? Can't they afford to buy one?

Several teams have gone up and had a good first season in the prem, so no reason why they cant have a strong finish with the squad they're assembling and the buzz around them.

It's crap the human rights stuff but outside of fans control really.
Good first season?

Yeh course they can haha but Financial fair play, if they spend too much now they wont be able to spend too much next season, or the one after
I don't think they need to buy one for this season so probably just get one in on loan as a squad player

Exactly. Howe seems to be doing the role Mark Hughes did for Man City. Newcastle need to be consistently in the top half with good players before they can make a serious attempt to start winning competitions and challenging for the league.

That might be sooner rather than later. I remember Gary Neville stating that by 2010 Man City were becoming a serious side with very good players. That was only two years after Boro beat them 8 - 1.

If I was Howe I'd be focusing on the League Cup for a win just to break the 65+ year duck, and what happens in the league will take care of itself. I suppose they won't be bottom at Christmas this season, which will be a step up for them.

I still think it's naive to say it's sports washing, they are buying the western world. They've not just bought Newcastle United, they are buying the city.
Still sports washing

Expect a new wing on the rvi to come and poss update the airport as well.

Human rights what human rights
