Naming the stands

West Stand - The Sit Down Stand.
East Stand - The Gis A Wave Stand.
Sout Stand - The Stand Up Stand.
North Stand - We`re The North Stand Stand.(y)

Whether naming stands after former players is a good idea or not, I’m absolutely staggered that we’re on page 4 of this thread and nobody has mentioned Tony Mowbray. Club captain during our darkest hour, achieved back to back promotions, led us onto the pitch at our first ever Wembley appearance and managed us (successfully or otherwise) for 3 seasons following the debacle of the Strachan era.

He’s the very epitome of the phrase club legend. I mean, the guy even had a certain fanzine named in his honour!

Love Mogga. But naming a stand after someone while they're still alive would be awkward which is why it rarely happens.

Also why Mogga specifically? He was a very young player who happened to be captaining our side though and out of a very bleak period. He played quite a bit of football elsewhere after leaving us and he is only joint 10th in club appearances, so there's an argument for up to nine other players being ahead of him in that respect. I'm sure Tim Williamson (who played solely for Boro in his career) must have been held in huge regard by the fans in his era (602 apps) but I doubt anyone is suggesting he should have a stand named after him.

It's tricky one, but I would like to see the stands named.

Yiu can't name a stand after the manager of a rival club

Dulwich Hamlets fans used to refer to one of the sides of their ground as "the toilets opposite stand" based on a sign on the back wall. 🤣

Alan Comfort Stand (Padded seats all round)
Stananderstand, soon to be replaced by the Jack Charlton Stand
Eric McMortaged Stand (Leased from Mel Morris)
