Musk calls for Farage to be replaced

Ah great, so we have Musk, the US president-elect's close advisor, implementing the plans of Dugin, Russian political philosopher and one of Putin's strongest influences.
This bodes well.
just a theory (conspiracy?) I guess or as mentioned in one of the replies maybe Durgin is trying to stir things up that Russia is in control but it is a bit worrying ....tbf

I'm sure that's right and Dugin is trying to stir things, but Musk doesn't seem to realise that he's no longer a tech bro making mischief on the internet. This is international geopolitics he is involved with now. Actions have consequences up to and including causing the deaths of large numbers of people.

This stinks of a foreign billionaire trying to buy a uk political party, and remove anyone that won’t cowtow to his political beliefs. The f…r is creating franchises of the trumpian republican party

You can see where this is going, there is general apathy among voters regarding both parties atm, more than I can remember.

Farage isn't the face for some new MAGA equivalent here, he's not got enough appeal, sadly I can see us following that lot over the Atlantic, his platform will continue to brainwash people with the "real news", those riots last year were just the start.

I genuinely dont understand the Musk objective here - he has 3 main businesses, Space X whose biggest client is the US govt, Tesla who sells cars to people who may be interested in climate change, and X which appeals to people who like unfiltered comment and free speech.

Lets leave Space X to one side, I dont think there is much if an overlap between Tesla drivers and Reform voters given Reform are pretty much climate deniers. X doesnt make any money but allows Musk to push whatever political agenda he wants.

So why risk sales in Tesla to cozy up to the right wing? Does he think right wingers are more likely to buy an electric car if they know the bloke selling it to them is a fascist? Does he think that constantly undermining the UK Govt and the EU he will increase revenue opportunities for X?

A bloke on the radio yesterday who used to work with Musk said that ultimately there is always a profit motive at the heart of what he does. Well Im stumped as to what it is here

Maybe something to do with serously prohibitive tarrifs on imports of Chinese cars? He can probably get that done in the US now but also wants the influence to do it in the EU as well?

He's never making money from x unless he does turn it into an everything app that people use to pay, bank and shop on. At the moment he is leveraging x to gain political influence.

It can't be ruled out that he has lost sight of land at this point and there is no overarching vision. Not everything is 4d chess.

The EU already have tarrifs on chinese battery cars, so I dont understand your point

His pride has been piqued and we're now seeing the fall back behaviour that is his natural state. He's tantruming but now it's public, on show for everyone to see. He's just a malignant narcissist.

I'm no fan of Farage, which I think is pretty clear from my previous posts. However, I think his personal appeal is absolutely crucial for Reform.

This is aggregate polling from last year.

Reform were pretty much flat lining at 11-12% until June, when there's a sudden upturn in their polling, and a remarkably similar shaped dip in conservative support.

Farage announced his return as party leader and his candidacy on the 3rd of June.

That's his personal importance to the movement. The cult of personality in action.
