Musk calls for Farage to be replaced

Tesla are made in China anyways
Model 3 for the euro market is made in China, Model Y is made in Berlin. We have no tarrifs on chinese cars in the UK.

So if he wants tarrifs on china he will lose out on Model 3 sales in the UK, and if he wants tarrifs dropped he gets more competition

I genuinely dont understand the Musk objective here - he has 3 main businesses, Space X whose biggest client is the US govt, Tesla who sells cars to people who may be interested in climate change, and X which appeals to people who like unfiltered comment and free speech.

Lets leave Space X to one side, I dont think there is much if an overlap between Tesla drivers and Reform voters given Reform are pretty much climate deniers. X doesnt make any money but allows Musk to push whatever political agenda he wants.

So why risk sales in Tesla to cozy up to the right wing? Does he think right wingers are more likely to buy an electric car if they know the bloke selling it to them is a fascist? Does he think that constantly undermining the UK Govt and the EU he will increase revenue opportunities for X?

A bloke on the radio yesterday who used to work with Musk said that ultimately there is always a profit motive at the heart of what he does. Well Im stumped as to what it is here

I don’t think it is anything to do with the short term for Musk nor about money.

Musk and his ilk are looking at creating a race of people who are ‘worthy’ of being here and/or on another planet.
Their view is that the objective is achieved only with intelligent strong white people (mainly men).

The UK, at the moment, is an isolated island which still attracts USA interest.
It is fairly easy for him to influence events here to meet his goal.

This is a bit like the Sunderland will fall like a stone discussions

Farage
* Got Brexit over the line against all the odds
* Has an ‘in’ to The White House
* Now an elected MP
* Got reform representation in the House of Commons
* More members than the Tory party
* Heavily funded without Musk (by a billionaire)
* Depending on what you read could be anything from 50 seats to 200 at the next election - from a standing start
* Shaping British politics with the Tories, Starmer et al focussing on immigration

Yet people continue to write him off

IMHO - that is part of the problem. He is a real danger

I think that’s very true, and there’s the obvious comparison with Trump who was underestimated by everyone basically. I think the difference is Trump won two elections against weak opponents who lacked the required ruthlessness to defeat him. I don’t particularly like Starmer or agree with many of his decisions but he’s a much better and stronger politician than Farage or anyone Trump has ever come up against.
I believe for instance its why labour are making many unpopular decisions now, as they feel they won’t be at the forefront of people’s minds in 5 years time.

There seems to be a gaping rejoin the EU hole that the Lib dems could fill and use to do very very well at the next GE.

My hunch is Labour will also be on that ticket by then.
As per Card Cheats’ message earlier - get the noisy controversial stuff out of the way early then look to do the popular stuff.

4 years is an awfully long time in politics.

Don’t forget after Johnson’s majority the Labour Party were written off with little to no chance of winning an election any time soon.

IF he's gone in 4 years (I tend to agree though he probably will, just on age above anything) ... its more what follows and what's been left behind is what I am more concerned over.

(Have absolutely no idea why but it wouldn't let me reply directly to you @Boro.Fur it kept throwing up an error.)

Because there's no stability within the republican party, does it even exist anymore? And Trump is a lame duck president in his second term then the infighting to replace him will start from his inauguration.

It will be interesting to see whether MAGA continues without Trump or whether MAGA was just trumpism.

It's going to be an absolute mess of a presidency but we all know that, the people that voted for him knew that, they just want to watch it burn.

It's going to be a very long and tense 4 years. For me I think all bets are off on what people have previously thought would never happen.

It’s absolutely soul destroying that most people have forgotten that this man, who leads a party of 72 MPs, exists. He is barely on our screens offering his party position. Worse still, the average person in the street couldn’t even tell you who is leader of the Green Party, who have 4 MPs. They too get next to zero coverage or exposure.

But that hate spreading gobshite who has done more damage to our country than any individual in decades, a man who profits from the business of spreading hate and division with his 5 MPs is never off our TVs, news programs, newspapers, social media.
The media of this country is an absolute joke.
