Muniz

That's not even true. He was on his way down when the contact happened. It was a clear dive. And he was outside the box so at best would have been a free kick.

No chance it was a penalty. Nothing happened in the game so Sky needed something to talk about.
Clear dive? Are you Jeff Winter?
I’ve replayed this frame by frame many times. Yes there is contact outside the box. But there is also contact at the moment Muniz has crossed the line into the box. Wood’s left elbow into the back of Muniz’s right shoulder, Wood’s right boot into Muniz’s right boot and possibly even Wood’s right knee in the back of Muniz’s upper right thigh. Muniz had position on Wood and was trying to maintain his balance to win the ball. He was the only player who could win that ball.
Your assessment that “he was on his way down when the contact happened” is incorrect.

He got himself goal side of the defender and should of brushed off the challenge and rolled it into the bottom corner. Instead we saw everything that is wrong with modern footballers. Happy to wait for the slightest touch to go down for a pen.

Im a big fan of Muniz but he has shrugged off stronger challenges than that all over the pitch.

We’ll have to disagree then. IMO it wasn’t a dive.
Muniz was trying to gain complete control of the ball in order to hopefully roll it in the corner.
Wood’s challenge, soft as it was, was the final straw that brought him down.

He was in front of Wood
He had no choice but to impede him

Not disagreeing really var would have probably given it. I just think he did the hard work getting in front. Should of just buried it. I though the challenge was probably a foul but in reality it wasnt enough to stop him if he was really determined to go for goal

Warnock was the reason we never signed he wanted keifer Moore so we delayed on Muniz.
Love Muniz but when we were first after him, he was an unknown quantity and never had a season in English football behind him. Would have took Moore all day long ahead of him and in reality, probably would now. Harsh to blame Warnock for this one.

When it comes to refereeing decisions for and against the Boro it’s interesting how many agenda driven opinions appear, no wonder the refs get it wrong all the time, they can’t tell whether the Boro crowd want decisions for or against the team at the Riverside.

really? It was a blatant kick on his right leg. You've clearly never played the game if you think it's possible to keep your feet under those circumstances. His body weight might have been going forward but that isn't a dive, you need your bodyweight forward to accelerate.

behave, the game is played at such a high pace these days that slight touches will send players over. No way is that a dive, he wasn't going down, he didn't engineer a touch, and didn't exaggerate it either.

Both feet were of the floor and his body was at a 45° angle when the "contact" was made. There was some contact from the hands on the upper body, but nothing that would cause a strong bloke like Muniz to go down. There was no contact with the legs until he was already on his way down.

He could've easily stayed on his feet if he'd have wanted to and he'd have had a decent chance at goal.

Footballers these days play for penalties instead of just trying to score a goal. It's infuriating to watch and it's even more infuriating to read people defending it.

sorry but that isn't true, his body weight was forward and his leg was kicked from him

If you are impeded it's a foul regardless if you stay on your feet, fall, or throw yourself to the floor, they're all still a foul

His body weight wasn't forward. Nobody runs at a 45° angle with both feet off the floor. He dived forwards.

He wasn't impeded. He "felt contact". It isn't a non contact sport. There was no grab, push etc it was two people with their hands up. It didn't cause him to fall, he saw a chance to win a penalty and attempted it, aka dived.

Stop defending cheating. It's ruining the game.

Muniz was fouled

He didn't cheat, his right foot was taken away from him, it's about as blatant as you can get, a blind man can see that was a penalty. And I've called out our player in the past for diving, but this was a penalty

Have to say it looked a dive to me. Great chance as well, should have tried to get the shot off and then appeal to the ref after if it's no good.

As a team we need to catch on to the reality that we're not a side that gets ref decisions easily. For a big decision like a pen to be in our favour the player needs to get absolutely battered. Play accordingly. If its at all possible to stay on ur feet we must.

As I‘d said previously…

Final contact for the trip shows Wood’s left elbow to Muniz right shoulder, Wood’s right boot to Muniz’s right boot and possibly even Wood’s right knee into Muniz upper right thigh.

Contrary to what you‘ve been claiming Nano… Muniz was inside the box, his body weight was forward and he wasn’t at a 45° angle with both feet off the floor. A “clear dive” it’s not. It’s a trip!

Feel for him up front alone with nobody decent to play off. Always the only body in the box in the rare event a cross actually comes in.

I guess non of us knew how good he was until he landed in the UK. But you can see now why NW wasn’t too pleased. He clearly wanted him. Looking at the lad, he’s well worth the £8m or so Fulham paid for him. Strong, skilful, elegant. Great touch. Wins his physical battles almost every time and knows where the back of the net is. Hopefully Fulham stay up and we can get him on a perm. Best we’ve had in a long time.
You think Muniz would want to be here permanently? I think he can do, and will, do better.

He can’t be enjoying playing in this team. He’s probably already regretting wasting a season.
