Morgan Rogers worth 80 million.

Yes but that’s football fans who are very disappointed with a shocking start to the season, we had been in the play offs just a few months previously.

What you say is probably true, but doesn't justify some of what was said. Feeling emotional and irrational shouldn't cloud our judgement.
People can post what they like on football matters, but they're still responsible for what they post too.

Rogers was someone I rated from day one and every thread about him from me was positive so I’m happy too is going to be some player. I thought it was pretty obvious from day one to be fair.

Buzzing for him hope he achieves some great things.

Some people forget that these lads are still really young and learning how to be a professional footballer in a demanding league.
Tactically wise as well coming from Man City under Pep to coming here was always going to take time to adjust but we all could see that he had something, just had to nurture it.
He matured quite quickly for me.

Dug this up from TL ..
Nothing anywhere about the actual sell on %, hopefully chunky tho...

"It is understood that Boro received a guaranteed fee north of £10 million with another £5 million based on potential performance-related add-ons. The deal also included what was described as a 'big sell-on fee'. It means Boro could financially benefit from the Rogers sale for some time yet,"

Might as well hoof my own

I didn’t rate him when played at centre forward tbf. Certainly showed his potential when played in his natural role, but I’ll admit I’m surprised how quickly he’s established himself as a key player at Villa.

I'm really pleased for Rogers and glad he seems to have cemented his place in Villas starting line up.
Not sure he's worth £80m like and not sure we'll see him in an England shirt imminently. There's stiff competition in his position(s). He's competing with Foden, Bellingham, Palmer, Gordon, Grealish, Maddison, Eze etc.

I always find it interesting when people drag up old threads and try and claim a bit of superiority on why they were proved right or someone else was proved wrong. As time goes by, there can be a lot of things forgotten.

That thread was from the 2nd of September which was the evening after we'd been beaten by QPR at home 2-0 and we had been shocking. It was our 5th game without a win and Rogers had started all 5 matches. He had been poor up until that point. He had shown a few glimpses of what he was capable but on the whole he hadn't done enough. Carrick obviously agreed with this as it was the last league game he started for a long time. In fact he didn't start another league game until 28th November, 13 games later. Crooks, McGree and Greenwood were all played in front of him. When he came back into the team he really started to show what he was capable of. I just think people should bare this in mind when looking back and it gives those posts a bit of context.

I'm active on that thread that has been linked but more having a moan about Carrick's selections. I haven't made any posts about Rogers that I regret in that thread or the other one that was bumped up. I think the only post in either of them where I've made a direct comment about Rogers is this one

He wasn’t poor in those first 5 games at all though. He’d created chance after chance after chance, it was literally about a dozen that we’d completely failed to capitalise on, I remember particularly his second game against Coventry away he was absolutely outstanding in the second half. Anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of football could see his obvious potential. Most people just parrot what they hear other people say though.

I don't think that's why past threads get pulled up (for the record, I don't think I posted on that Rogers thread, so I'm not claiming superiority or admitting I was wrong).

I do hope it makes people think twice before posting vitriolic and vicious criticism (and some of that criticism is both), of kids trying their best.

There's absolutely no need to form an opinion on a player until he's played 6-12 matches. I don't think there's much kudos in having an opinion after 2 games and eventually being proven right. That just makes me think every pin sticker gets it right sometimes.

He had some decent moments but he also played a lot of sloppy football as well . He was much better when he came back in later.

It was no coincidence our form turned around when we swapped Rogers, Silvera and Lath for Coburn, McGree and Crooks. Those players played better at that moment. Or maybe Carrick got it wrong?

Couldn’t agree more. An opinion is just that at a particular point in time. It must be great being the folk on this board who are never wrong!

6-12 matches is nothing when they are only very young, if they have all the arributes, persist with them, it can take a couple off seasons.

It's important as supporters to be patient with young players, it's awful when you see a young lad doing his best and getting dogs abuse, nearly all of us will have sons eventually...I would hate to see him go through that level.

It's took me a while to finally say that Engel is sadly not the answer, not the worst player in the world, but this season we are going for it and the odd mistake he doing far too often IMO.

I doubt he's going for £80 million anytime soon but how crazy is it that his sell on percentage would be close to our record sale.
