Just seen I've missed Back to the 90s with Vic Reeves on Ch4 followed by Trainspotting.

Can't help but think if this was back to 70's with Dave Brock, followed by a documentary about Hawkwind on BBC4 the board would have been all over it.

I beg to differ, the greatest decade that God ever invented and Zig and Zag will back me up!!!
I`l stick with Dog Is Dead, Rob Green, The Tangents, Field Studies and Jake Bugg (y)
Seen them all at the Bodega, Rescue Rooms an the Maze at one point or another.
Small, local bands - always brilliant live with a good solid core of fans:D:cool:

We were on a family day out at Beamish a couple of years ago and my brother said he’d love to go back and live in the late 1800s. He asked my wife which time period she would love to go back and live in. Her response, instantly, was ‘I’d love to be 18 in 1990 so I could fully appreciate everything of the 90s.’

I can’t disagree with her. It would be amazing.

I left school in 1989, the 90's were a fantastic time to be a young man! I've been to some places and seen some things, most of it during unsociable hours, 90% of it I have no recollection of so it must have been good!
I'm now in my 40's and regret the life choices I made, but I had a good time making them!

Must say, I'm 57 and have never had the remotest interest in the recorded output of Hawkwind.
I’m not particularly a fan of Hawkwind specifically but music in the 70s was diverse and fantastic: Roxy, Ferry, Bowie, Faces, Kate Bush, T.Rex, Elton John’s best stuff by a mile, Donna Summer, ELO, Eagles, Tubular Bells, Bat out of Hell, Rumours by Mac, then the Jam, Clash, Pistols, Ramones, etc., etc.

I was 18 in 1990 :)

Good post, agree with all, loved all that stuff & my 70's pop music too 👍🎶

I left secondary school in 96. The 90's were indeed good for me. Superstars at Boro, a new stadium, Euro 96 and France 98, college, first job, first girlfriend, loads of partying and some quality music.

If you were watching Trainspotting at its release, then surely you were born in the 70s:cool:

Unless you were sneaking in to 18 films in 1996

I'm the same age. Exciting times in football for Boro and England, and some great music to provide the soundtrack to growing up

I was 14 turning 15 at the start of the 90s and there is not one single decade that I have enjoyed more (I suppose most people might say that for their decade that saw them leave school turn 18 and 21).
The 90s were a special time, at the start of it the Tories stabbed Thatcher in the back and it seemed like an upward curve from then onwards. Amazing music, following the Boro through possibly the best 3 or 4 years of their history and even England became quite good at football for a part of it. I listen to the quickly Kevin Podcast, which is all about 90s football and question they often end with is, if you had button that if you pressed you could go back to January 1st 1990 and do it all again, would you? I would answer yes in a heartbeat!!!
