Mitrovic - Now the dust settled

Not if you think Mitrovic didn't really do anything wrong you wouldn't ! - you may not have noticed but you're out of step with the majority of this board, just about every journalist, just about every ex-player who has commented, and the referees body !
Ah, the bar is set pretty high then! The majority of the board are most likely pilling on with every twitter journo begging for clicks. Four games would be sufficient and ten games would be too much.. in my humble opinion.

I might be wrong on this but it won’t be because the majority of an internet message board don’t agree or some footballers.

It’s come from the rules.

112 day minimum ban, 2 years maximum, 182 day suggested starting point.

I have no idea why you want him to be treated outside of the rules.
As I think the person who originally quoted it has conceded, it’s come from the bit of the rules that applies to Steps 5 and 6 of the pyramid and lower. So applies directly only to Northern League down. Where I’m sure it would be followed.

Still probably not a bad benchmark for equivalent incidents in the top eight tiers mind. Not sure why the offence is less serious just because you get paid more.

If Mitrovic does end up getting a ban then he needs to get Newyddion as part of his appeal team, would deffos get it overturned.

No kidda, you are wrong because you seem to think that Mitrovic's actions are understandable or excusable. I'm sorry but if you put your hands on the ref you are off, straight red. But he went beyond that, way beyond. I don't have any particular beef with either Mitrovic or Fulham but you cannot behave in that way towards a referee. It sets an example for kids and amateurs to physically intimidate match officials and he needs to be punished for it. Fully.

I think four games is more appropriate than ten.

Unless , you play for Utd.

He would get four for a player on player violent conduct red plus his failure to leave the field. And he might not have got a red for that contact either, although the level of aggression might have done it.

But all incidents are not the same. Player on player is effectively tolerated by all in the game. If a fan did that to the player he’d get a life ban and a conviction, and with a dodgy enough record maybe even time. Because that can’t be tolerated and must be stopped.

The same policy considerations for me apply, although I might concede to a lesser degree, for player on ref. It has to be appreciably more than player on player. It cannot be tolerated.

I'd like to see an indefinite ban until he is able to demonstrate that he is a reformed character.

Do we want professional referees who are respected or reactionary soap opera characters deciding the outcome of games?
Again you are blaming the referee (or at very least transferring some of the blame for Mitrovic's actions to the official)

I don't care what the referee did or didn't do, it doesn't matter. An argument for better refereeing is not supported by allowing players to physically intimidate or assault referees on the field of play without severe repercussions.

Not all referees are the same, incidents or interpretations. Mine is that he should miss four games. I can hold the opinion that I thought the referees actions could have been better without that being interpreted as me approving of Mitrovics reaction.

I’m just going of what I saw and my opinion of what happened.. rather than being fueled by reactionaries and repercussions for actions which have not occurred.

“Kids are gonna smash their teachers faces in at school now because of this.. Mitrovic needs to be banned for life before someone is killed or thinks that killing is ok etc”
