Plus revenue they actually got on Saturday. I’m certainly a would have been slightly fullerThey will all be replayed and the businesses will get most, if not all of that revenue back.

that's an anomaly based on the proximity of the opposition, not the norm. Our midweek game was 15% downBlackpool's highest attendance was on a Wednesday night this season - hopefully they can buck the trend.
Not midweek they won’tThey will all be replayed and the businesses will get most, if not all of that revenue back.
I meant money to the local economy, millions of people across the country buying a burger/pint etc is still vitally important to the economy, it’s the main income for most of the businesses associates with footballI doubt that. I think I’ve given about £5 to charity in my years of going to football? Unless you think the matches won’t go ahead later in the season? Or unless you think donating to charity is the same as buying a burger?

And they will when the match is rescheduledI meant money to the local economy, millions of people across the country buying a burger/pint etc is still vitally important to the economy, it’s the main income for most of the businesses associates with football
Weekdays are always far less busy for pubs, restaurants, hotels etc so they will loose money. I could understand it if they had a genuine reason to postpone the gamesAnd they will when the match is rescheduled
You’re talking very small margins. And comparing it to the millions upon millions raised FOR CHARITY in a road race is misguided.Weekdays are always far less busy for pubs, restaurants, hotels etc so they will loose money. I could understand it if they had a genuine reason to postpone the games
Grassroots football cancelled.
But not for the Eton Boys..

I don’t think the Blackpool game should have been cancelled cost a lot of people a lot of money. Black armband and national anthem job done.. but you don’t get a do over! Be respectful or cancel the game.
No need to compare though both events are very important for the economy, no reason both couldn’t have gone aheadYou’re talking very small margins. And comparing it to the millions upon millions raised FOR CHARITY in a road race is misguided.
The latterMany people say the music ruins the atmosphere. Now you are saying it's absence made the atmosphere flat. Which is it?
I agree. I was surprised when someone tried to compare the two. We need to explain the difference between charitable causes and people making a profitNo need to compare though both events are very important for the economy, no reason both couldn’t have gone ahead
Ref ‘Big Boy pants’ not bothered about it, I was merely answering a questionSo we reap what we sow. Time to get our big boy pants on and get over it. It's 10 days and then it will al be forgotten about.
(And yes, some have lost some money regarding Blackpool - hopefully it can be sorted out by rebooking accommodation, travel and if they can't go refunds from the club).
Maybe that isn't actually the reason why they decided to postpone the matches. Claiming they were cancelled because of concern over the minute's silence is purely hearsay. You have to remember Football is the " National Game " and they didn't cancel grass root games because of any concern for disrespecting the minute's silence did they? The official statement was it was " as a mark of respect " it's a shame a few on here cant act in the same way.A lot of talk about charities vs cold hard burger van profit* but that's missing the point of the thread.
If the game was postponed because of worries about fan behaviour during a minutes silence, why did we have the silence anyway?
Surely the same worries about the same fans existed.
*I'm not suggesting anyone's burgers are cold and/or hard.
It has been reported (in the press so presumably it came from a proper source) that it was one of the major considerations. It is certainly a step up from hearsay.Maybe that isn't actually the reason why they decided to postpone the matches. How many people have been fed from donations to the various football club foodbanks?I agree. I was surprised when someone tried to compare the two. We need to explain the difference between charitable causes and people making a profit
But no official statement = hearsay. It has been reported
