Middlesbrough lodge £45m compensation claim

You've missed my point - why does the poster believe "that's where they belong"?

If it's because they cheated, then fair enough, but to suggest that's their rightful position is silly.

I would guess because they rightly should have went down last season.
So it is where they belong.

They stayed up because Sheffield Wednesday had a points deduction given for financial breaches within the same time period as Derby's current punishment is for.

It's only because Mel Morris tried everything possible to avoid the punishment they were due that it dragged on in to this season.

I dont think anyone is arguing with any of that. My argument is that a club of Derby's stature do not "belong" in the 3rd tier, in the same way as Sunderland dont.

I'm not a psychic or anything, but I predict that Steve Gibson won't be given A Freedom of Derby honoury title anytime soon. But I think there is still a real possibility he may have a statue built in his honour outside The City ground in Nottingham 😂

The fans on that thread are really getting themselves in a tizz now. Someone has even suggested that the EFL should threaten Boro with a points deduction - I'm not sure why, and I don't think they are either. That's inbetween the threats to either poo in Gibson's front garden, or go online and leave bad reviews of Rockcliffe Hall. He must be shaking in his boots.

I wonder if Wilder has identified a couple of their players he wants and this is our opening gambit in the negotiations?

🤪

£1.5m a piece? so like £3m total?

LB Lee Buchanan 20yo
DF Krystian Bielik 23yo
MF Max Bird 21yo
AM Louie Sibley 20yo
LW Tom Lawrence 27yo

Looks about right
Ended up being £2.7m.. so not that far off at all! How much have the players went for so far?

LB Lee Buchanan - free transfer
DF Krystian Bielik - loan
MF Max Bird - contract to June 23
AM Louie Sibley contract to June 24
LW Tom Lawrence - free transfer

Better off keeping the money?
