Middlesbrough lodge £45m compensation claim

Link to the Derby forum, I haven’t clicked on the Suns link. Someone pastes the article in that thread.
"Did they vote on the creditors meeting? That’s three Brit asombalongas worth . Which makes zero."

Taking me back to the old three points debacle all those years ago, making up the rules as they go along for the benefit of various cronies. Worst example was of course the West Ham/Tevez thing, can't remember who went down instead of them of them, but they were robbed massively!
It wasn't the football league that came up with the ruling against us, it was the premier league. IIRC it was Sheff Utd that got robbed by the Tevez affair

For all his missteps, I think Gibbo is doing the right thing here because it is apparent that the rule structure around these types of issues isn't fit for purpose. Punishments must be handed out during the season in which they took place or else you have the potential domino effect like we are seeing here.
Of all the wronged parties we are one of least affected, but we do seem to be the most proactive in trying to get the EFL to govern the game correctly and justly.
The impact of relegation on Wycombe isn't just reflected in their league position, it'll have been felt in the playing squad as well as all the off-field staff due to the reduced revenue forced upon them. The impact on them could last for years to come.
I've no particular beef with Derby as a club, but under Mel Morris's stewardship they have been found guilty of numerous rule breaches and it is only correct that they be punished and that those impacted by their actions have a chance at recourse.

Wycombe were not in the championship when Derby cheated. Awarding them compensation would be akin to compensating Usain bolt because Ben Johnson cheated. They have not been disadvantaged in any way. If the league had deducted derby points last season would the team finishing third bottom this year be entitled to sue for compensation?

Interesting to know where the £45m figure comes from, as if we had won the play offs it would’ve been worth £150m+. That doesn’t appear to be what we are claiming.

As a guess, could they be valuing a season in the prem as being worth £180m (including parachute payments) if relegated after 1 season.

And as we’d have had a 25% chance = £45m

I imagine it could be the equivalent of what Derby got for reaching the final? I know there’s a been an unwritten rule that the losers of the play off final often get the full gate receipts.

That was a disgrace.

£1.5m a piece? so like £3m total?

LB Lee Buchanan 20yo
DF Krystian Bielik 23yo
MF Max Bird 21yo
AM Louie Sibley 20yo
LW Tom Lawrence 27yo

Looks about right

This must be Gibbos last assault on DCFC and so far he has landed two knockout blows.
Punch 1 - probably relegation and insolvency
Punch 2 - certain relegation.

He must know where he going with his latest two footed challenge and it certainly puts down a marker for other potential miscreant chairman that find themselves in the Championship. That has to be a good thing for the game.

Interesting that they are so dismissive of Gibson, but it was Gibson who played a large part in bringing their clubs dirty deeds to task in the first place.

Have I misunderstood or do you think a team gets £45m for reaching the play offs final?
