Messi - officially on the market

I would LOVE it for Mike Ashley to sign him up and have Messi sit there citing working with Steve Bruce as a major draw. Imagine the conflicting emotions at that.

I doubt its gonna happen and i would hate to see it hating most of them but it would be brilliant to see him in the prem and maybe not at city, man u, chelsea, lpool, brentford

I see. So when you claimed he wasn't taking a "taking a substantial pay cut", which is untrue, that he was "chasing money" and all this "shows him in a very bad light". You didn't actually mean this.
He literally generates more revenue for the club than he takes out in salary. They waste this money paying stupid fees and stupid salaries on players and managers that offer them nothing. He gave them a chance to sell him last season and they declined. They've now continued to bring in players despite not really being able to afford so. He's agreed to a new deal at 50% which they okayed and have now been prevented from going ahead because of La Liga rules, and the bad guy in all of this is Messi.

I would play for the Boro for nothing and I've pennies in my bank account. Barca have nurtured him from being a tiny young lad through to being arguably the GOAT. He's been earning half a million a week for years and is insanely rich.

Of course Barca have made money from him being there too but I've no doubt he could play for them for £100,000 a week at least and fit the financial structures necessary. Still an insane amount of money.

Barca have no choice in the matter due to the financial constraints, he does. If this isn't clear enough for you I suggest you stop purposely misrepresenting the points I'm making and go argue elsewhere with someone that can be bothered bothered with your purposely abrasive and argumentative ways.

What you've posted in this thread is not only incorrect, but shows you clearly have no understanding of the situation that currently exists in Spain regarding league financial controls. Instead you've decided that Messi is the problem here and in doing so made yourself look a bit silly.

Completely missing the point I'm making STILL. I've spelled it out for you, if you don't understand it that's your problem.

I see. So when you posted this: "After making hundreds of millions through Barca he's now still chasing the money rather than stick with the club he loves.", and this: "He hasn't, he's gone chasing more riches.", despite being untrue and a misrepresentation of the situation that has occurred, what was this point you think you were making? Because it appears you have literally no understanding of this matter, but have decided that Messi is the problem here.

It's actually pretty surreal that he'll be playing elsewhere next season (although as above I don't think it's out of the question that he re-signs for Barca)

As long as it's a team with regular TV coverage in the UK I'm happy.

Messi owes Barcelona nothing. He’s carried that club for years whilst they’ve wasted money left right and centre on massive transfer deals that ultimately they couldn’t afford. He’s even agreed to take a 50% pay cut to stay, but somehow is being painted as the bad guy. He could take another 50% cut on top of that, but still wouldn’t be allowed to sign as La Liga won’t sanction new contracts until Barca shed £200m off their annual wage bill. I guess he could play for nothing, but there isn’t a sportsman on the planet that would do that whilst vastly inferior teammates earn tens of millions a year - some of them whilst not even playing.

I agree with those that say he might yet stay as this could be an effective ultimatum to La Liga not to lose its best player. But if he does leave, it’s entirely Barca’s doing and Messi has no case to answer.

His love of Barca obviously doesn't extend to taking a substantial pay cut, whilst likely still remaining one of the best paid players in the world.

After making hundreds of millions through Barca he's now still chasing the money rather than stick with the club he loves.

I don't think this will be a popular opinion but I think it shows him in a very bad light.
Nothing to do with the money, barce are completely skint and won’t be able to get players registered. They already had a deal in place that was due to be announced in the next few days which was also a significant wage drop for messi, but it’s Barcelona that had to back out of it, not the player

No, you're misrepresenting my position but quite honestly you can get to f**k. You're purposely being a t*t as you usually are on most of your posts. Welcome to the block list.

He could play for virtually nothing and still be one of the richest sportsmen in history, whilst cementing his legendary status and giving something back to the club he professes to love.

He hasn't, he's gone chasing more riches.
He could play for free and they still can’t register him with the current regulations. He hasn’t gone chasing anything. They had a deal agreed for weeks which Barcelona have had to withdraw

Oh no, anything but the dreaded block list. :ROFLMAO:

You were posting outright lies and nonsense about something you've shown yourself to be clueless on and decided to use it, no doubt to support some personal prejudice you have against Messi to paint him as the villain here. You've been called out on it. The problem here is with you. No one else.

I don’t buy the whole ‘it’s a shame the two parties can’t have what they want’, if he wanted it that much, surely he would just take the reduction that would let it through? Or have I misunderstood?

He’ll end up at PSG, don’t think he’d fancy the Premier League at the twilight of his career. Shame.

It’s odd for Barca to be so public very odd.
Come on. This is a club the regularly goes public trying to coerce and manipulate their fans and the media. Everything from the questionable pursuit of players, legal action, smearing their own players with underhand social media campaigns, discrediting rivals.
