Matt Clarke

He's terrible. If you thought Aden Flint was a clogger, wait until you see this guy. Not what we need at all, unless it's as a backup for Lenihan if Fry goes.
So hes been player of the year consistently yet hes a clogger whose worse than Flint
You don’t win player of the year 4 times out of 5 seasons if you are a clogger. The lads a good player and a good defender more importantly which we need, the fact he is left footed and good on the ball is just a bonus
Fans love a defender who is whole hearted and committed to the tackle. He is not, and never will be, a ball playing centre back.

To be fair, Flint was named Robins player of the year partly due to his goal scoring exploits. Matt Clarke has no record of scoring, it's purely down to his ability to play as a defender. I'd also trust a player of the year at a big club like west brom or Derby over a little one like Bristol City
Any changed opinions on Clarke now you've seen him play?

Absolute clogger, as I knew before we signed him, as I'd seen him play before and not just YouTube highlights.

He is certainly not suited to Widers 'overlapping' centre back philosophy

Hes an out and out old school penalty box defender who just happens to be left footed so Wilder is using him for 'Balance'

He lacks mobility and technical ability to lay the wide centre back role, i panic every time he gets the ball or is one on one versus an agile nimble striker because he either just falls over
or gets turned to easy, probbaly another one best suited to a back 4 as a stopper alongside a quicker CB

In his first 2 games I thought he played well but since then he's been worse than poor. Fry didn't have his best game last night but was streets ahead of Clarke in commitment and energy, and covered for him on many occasions in the first half, Wilder could see that and Clarke was subbed. Does Clarke now have a first team future at the club, does this southern boy want a future at this club?
