FFS How many times do people need to be told. Its not your fcuking risk!
The risk is that you are asymptomatic, that means you have the virus but no symptoms, and you give someone else the virus because you are not wearing a mask.
That is why you are a selfish cnut and why I hope that somebody very dear to you gets the virus and badly!

I have had it. I spent a week in hospital and three weeks in bed with it in January.
From January onwards I have suffered from long covid,
In May I spent another week in hospital with pneumonia, despite having the pneumonia vaccine last year.
I don't know what the risk to my respiratory system is, but if you're happy for me to catch another lung disease so that you can be free, then please don't criticise me for hoping somebody close to you suffers.
What a nasty post Norfolk, I too am sorry for your illness but to wish that on someone else, or family member is a horrible thing to say, dispicable TBH

What about this that aren’t? Who have to be in the store or the bus you are on?
If they have not been able to be vaccinated for health reasons and are subsequently vulnerable I would suggest they wear a mask in such circumstances.

If they have chosen not to be vaccinated for no good reason I frankly couldn’t care less.

But masks aren’t great for stopping you getting the virus. They are better for stopping it spreading. That’s why I asked. I totally agree with your feelings in the second paragraph

Small Town, you first commented on this thread at 07.23 and have continued all day harassing posters who said they would not wear a mask.
Time to take a deep breath, and take a break.
After all, the initial post and poll, asked who would or would not continue to wear a mask. It didn't ask anyone to justify their response.

its those most vulnerable i feel most sorry for. Those that can't have a vaccination, or are vaccinated but with compromised immunity through health/ medication. When they are coming in to the Drs/ Hospitals etc and masks have been scrapped they will be at more risk.

Its fine to get rid of them in places that have optional attendance, but places that are a necessity i feel is really short sighted. Its hardly and inconvenience and may save a life.

I wonder if there could be a way of fit testing those most at risk and providing ffp3 masks as a solution to this, but it wouldn't likely work for many.

I wouldn't be surprised to see GPS and hospitals maintain the mask policy for the future. It's become more normal now and may get buy in from people using the service. They're is certainly a case for this.

People have been banned for far less on here.

Not one person on this thread has moaned at people wearing masks, plenty have moaned about people's choices not to wear one after July 19th. Why? I don't know, maybe a sense of fear of return to normality, a fear of people coming out of lockdown and back into the world those who are moaning got used to calling their own? I don't know.

What I do know is this, the return to 2019 normality is on its way. I for one can't wait.

No issues with wearing a mask in a medical facility, it might help hospitals for example keep down infection rates of not just covid bit other ailments that seem to spread like wildfire through wards. Wearing one in a pub to walk to your table is pointless though and hasn't saved a life, neither had taping off urinals and plastering 2m stickers on high street pavements.

Apologies aet I know your feeling a little fragile at the minute. It wasn't my intention to add to your anxiety.
No problem. It wasn’t aimed at you. Just thought with today’s announcement it would be a thread to read and absorb. I might have known that at 10 pages long the usual suspects would be spouting the usual nonsense . Good job I’ve blocked them.

I don't know the reasoning behind the vitriol Randy. You and I don't agree on much regrading the pandemic but never fall out over it.

I respect your right to an opinion and, as far as the law goes, exercise your own risk management.

I just wish everyone could do the same. I do get a bit uppity when people try to tell others how to live their lives and insult them for having a different opinion. It's unnecessary and achieves nothing.

The poster who wanted a member of my family to catch covid and catch it bad... Least said there soonest mended I guess.

I remember having the discussion on here at the start of the pandemic with people who wouldn’t wear a mask in shops until the day the government made it a legal requirement, despite Covid being rife at the time, and here we are in the same position having the same discussion 18 months later. Can’t understand how people are still so irresponsible and take no responsibility for their or other people’s health unless the government tells them to. It’s common sense, nothing more nothing less

I'd be interested to hear Rob's or admin's thoughts on that paragraph.

I also agree that I've got some differing thoughts to others regarding the covid situation but enjoy the discussions with those who don't need to resort to petty insults or threats.

I agree, I enjoy reading such long debates, there are some really good points made from both sides of the wearing of the mask, especially Laughing & Andy, but to actually go on record & wish harm to someone or there family is cruel & should have no place on a forum

From the who website

Masks should be used as part of a comprehensive strategy of measures to suppress transmission and save lives; the use of a mask alone is not sufficient to provide an adequate level of protection against COVID-19.

North East now a hotspot- in that case I think I shall be wearing my mask for some time to come. Having lost four friends to Covid and supported a few others after they had caught the infection I think I'll do my best to play safe.
To be honest, I am really puzzled by this.
Anyone could go into a bar and not wear their mask- fair enough, if that is their choice. But that person may only go into the bar for a few hours a couple of times a week. The barstaff are there everyday -being exposed to veryone else who does not wear a mask.
Now- we could say that barstaff should wear a mask when serving in that case, but does that not send a signal to "punters" that that particular bar/pub etc is not safe? And if that was so, would the manager/owners want the barstaff not to wear masks at work?
Bus drivers and train counductors may well be in a similar position. Or am i overthinking things?
Any way- the link to the North East being a hot spot is below.

Sorry for your loss trugg, it's easy to forget that these are real people with friends and family that are dying.

In any event you raise a good point about staff perhaps being forced to not wear masks. I would reiterate what I have already said, people should be allowed to continue wearing masks or not without fear of reprisals.

Being new to the board but have been awaiting activation for a while I have read a few posts and it seems to me there are a couple posters on this thread who pop up time and time again to seemingly just argue and demand others answer them. Very odd behaviour or maybe delusions of grandeur

I believe our front of house staff will still be 'allowed' to wear face coverings should they choose to do so. It'll be great to see the late night drinkers return to the place though. We've been told countless times they won't come back whilst table service and the "other hoops they have to jump through" (their words not mine) are still in place. Can't wait to see and hear the proper buzz about the place again.
