It’s not just common sense. It’s acknowledging we are part of a greater society. It’s wanting to care for your fellow man. That’s why some of the response on here make me sad. They have no regards for any altruism at all. Which is why I take the view they are selfish. Because they show that.
Completely agree, the lack of empathy shown on here today is a real shock, thought most were better than that

Spotted this thread on twitter earlier, the comments really hit home on how tough todays announcement could make the next few months for some people, especially when cases are so high

Think of others immunocompromised. Outside they aren’t really required, but indoor areas with poor ventilation and plenty of others I will wear one.

It couldn’t be clearer that the government is not following the science.

Chris Whitty: Says he would absolutely wear a mask and gives 3 specific situations - crowded indoor places, if required to. and if someone else felt uncomfortable he wasn't wearing one

Patrick Vallance: Agrees with Whitty

Boris Johnson: Wiffle waffle piffle paff paff do whatever you want

Just read a few pages of this thread and wish I hadn’t bothered now.

some nasty vile posts, made by some incredibly self righteous individuals on here

carry on your pathetic little bickering lads.

I honestly hope I never bump into any of you at a match.

Harrasing? You must be a sensitive soul. I’ve merely said it’s a selfish act. Which I believe it is. No one is harrasing. The problem is people like laughing want to have an argument so take fake offence at me calling it a selfish act yet without being able to counter my reasons for thinking it is selfish.
And you believe that don't you? I want to have an argument.... Nope I don't I want some mutual respect, something you seem incapable off.

Not a single answer to the reasons why people might not want to wear a mask, not one response from you.

Not a single response on your assumptions about me, which were wrong, not one reponse.

Not a single reponse when someone wanted a member of my family to catch covid, and catch it bad. Not one repsponse.

And you are sad that people don't respect each other. The concept of respect for others is alien to you.

It does make him selfish. He is giving no thought to others who might need protecting from him.
But the restriction will have been lifted, its his or hers personal choice and they have the right to make that choice. You can wear your mask thats up to you. I'll be wearing mine but I won't be making a call on those that don't.

Been double jabbed. Will still wear one in crowded places and try to respect others' personal space. It costs me nothing so why wouldn't I? The government have just given up, purely because of pressure from their own backbenchers who are more concerned with personal 'freedoms' than the health of the nation. They are why people are already at each others' throats, as evidenced on this thread

Far too many people prepared to hide.

I think I'll continue to wear one when in shops or travelling on the bus.

Its funny how it has changed our thinking like. Could feel myself getting frustrated last night when I noticed a lady in the co-op not wearing one. Was hoping a staff member would challenge her but then reminded myself that she might have a medical reason for not wearing one.

One thing I now do out of habit, which I started doing at the beginning of the pandemic is wash my hands as soon as I get into the house. It could be a coincidence but I find I get a load of head colds, but can't remember the last time I had one. It does make me wonder if washing my hands has been a big factor, as touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your face is one of the biggest reasons for the spread of viruses.

After 19th July are people required to isolate if they have symptoms or can they just circulate with everyone else?
Track and trace will continue so I expect the requirement to self isolate if in contact with a positive case will continue. As for your specific question about needing to self isolate if you feel symptoms. I would have thought the responsible answer to that is yes of course - until you have had a negative test. I hope they clear that one up if confusion reigns

I trust all us responsible citizens whose behaviour to keep the infections within check will continue to use the Track and Trace system - I hope they dont see this media dubbed “Freedom Day” as a catalyst to stop doing so.

I'm not sure how many times we have to explain this. Yes it IS entirely his personal choice but, as the virus is currently accelerating and there are many vulnerable people in this country it IS selfish to stop wearing masks.
