Martin Braithwaite on his Boro departure

Barcelona to sell Braithwaite

Looks like he's going back out the door almost immediately.

The whole situation is made all the worse by the fact that Leganes were only relegated by one point, they'd have had a solid chance of staying up if Barcelona hadn't needlessly screwed them over for the sake of a player that made 4 starts in 14 games for them.

Just shows how biased things are towards the top clubs in Spain, how many other clubs could sign someone outside the window just because they had an injury

He was only ever going to be a stop gap while Barca had their injury problems. A bit like hiring a Vauxhall Cora’s while you are waiting for your Aston Martin to be repaired.

Knowing Braithwaite Leganes won’t have had much choice in the matter, he will have told them he was downing tools until they let him go.

He's always had plenty to say. I remember everytime he went on international duty he moaned about something or worse came back 'with his head not in the right place' etc.

Cost 9mil and we were lucky if we got half back. Pulis said he was one of the highest paid in the champo never mind at Boro (also said he would have been in the top 10 at his prem WBA side).

That's stunning if true. I wouldnt be surprised if we paid some of his wages when he left. A massive waste of time and money.

The 'worst' of Monks big money buys. The only saving grace is that he didn't sit around on his 4 Yr deal. He could still be with us now. I at least give him a little credit for pushing for a move (unlike Rudy).

Didn't seem the case, a lot of warm embraces from his ex team mates when he lined up for Barça against them.

He wasn't even in the squad for that match.

Probably because Barcelona were well aware of how seedy it was and didn't want to risk the aggro.

He was an unused sub mate, don't really know why you're trying to pick holes in something that's a fact. I saw most players greet him with a big smile and a hug.

It's not the players that will dislike him, it's the Leganes fans.

But I don't blame him for going to Barcelona, I blame Barcelona for buying him.
I fully expect the reason they dropped him to the bench and never put him on, despite him scoring in the previous match, was to avoid the optics.

True. I reckon they'd of gone down anyway, it's not like he was banging in goals most weeks for them, the sale of En Nesyri was just as damaging as losing Braithwaite and to lose both in January would have been incredibly disheartening as a fan.

I don't think I've ever known an ex-player have as much to say as he has since leaving.
