Lots of anti-Marxists in Hungary

The worrying thing is our population is closer to right wing populist Hungary than the more social democratic countries elsewhere in Europe.
I think the racist minority shout the loudest rather than being the majority
But there are plenty of them. I'm glad the Boro fans silenced the few booing taking the knee in the 1st game, then it was hardly audible in game 2 - and gone in game 3. Though I accept those that tried to boo will still think the same
It just needs to keep being challenged and made socially unacceptable - though reading comments on eg Facebook shows there is a long way to go

Whether it is “Roman salutes” by lazio supporters or swastikas cut into the pitch in Croatia… a lot of counties have got away with it for years with the authorities turning a blind eye.

Outwardly, yes it is a minority. But our direction of travel politically is not giving grounds for optimism for the future.

I don't wan't to speak for @bear66 but I don't think he was necessarily just talking about racism but rather political leaning and broader attitudes. It is undeniable that there has been a signficant swing over the last decade or so towards a more right wing form of populism/nationalism which again undeniably aligns us much more politically with a country like Hungary than it does countries like Germany or France. That's not the same thing as saying we (or Hungary for that matter) are majority racist though it is a natural symptom of a move towards nationalism and populism that racists are emboldened.

I'm not sure if I agree with you. Why aren't our "far right" parties as successful as they are throughout Europe?

Ukip has a tiny share of the vote compared to other parties throughout Europe.

France? They've banned headcoverings haven't they. They've a nationalist party that gains vote shares ours can only dream of. They have a real problem with their ideology of liberte Vs religious conservatism.

What are they. I'm interested to hear. I'm not looking for an argument.

Ok well if you look at the map @bear66 posted it shows how far away from Hungary and how far down the 'league table' France is. You argued that their nationalist party that gains vote shares ours can only dream of. I think that the league table contradicts that and I also would argue that we have a very nationalist/populist government never mind just a rise in nationalism. You also implied that France's decision to ban face coverings was motivated by nationalism, which I don't think is correct. Firstly, it was not a countrywide ban. It was a temporary measure put in place in some parts of France to prohibit in public places other than at religious services. That's a little bit different. Whether you agree or disagree with that decision (and I strongly disagree with it and agree with the UN's take) it was expressed to have been driven by a desire to defuse religious tension, protect citizens and reduce civil unrest at a time of heightened tension. It didn't come about because of nationalism or a rise of nationalism in France in the way you implied. In any event the points being made are pretty much irrelevant to the proposition being discussed which is that England is more politically aligned with a country like Hungary than it is countries like Germany and France. I think that stands up to scrutiny.

What a load of Baloney. Look at the East Germany, Le Pen, Italy every time a far right group look try and get a seat in our country they lose their deposit, same for the far left, but to be fair they both basically believe the same.
