Liam Gallagher at Knebworth

I never went but knew what the reviews were going to say. I can imagine if you were there it was amazing and exactly what it was painted as.

I guess if you don’t like Liam or the way he keeps harking back to Oasis then don’t go, doesn’t seem that difficult

I am/ was a massive Oasis fan but I find it hard listening to Liam sing nowadays.

I've seen Noel live a few times since they split up and his voice is still decent enough and he's got enough of his own music to make a show work. Liam just sounds like a bloke in a pub doing Kareoke.

I love Oasis. They started my love of music, they made me pick up a guitar and have a go, and their output during the 94-96 period is in my opinion, one of the most perfect sets of indie rock music ever recorded, all because of the story around it too.

But looking at Liam's set list, there was 50/50 split between Oasis songs all written by Noel (and mainly the mid-tempo stodgy rockers) and Liam's pretty sketchy solo stuff, which I don't think he can carry on his own with a mute faceless band behind him.

I think both brothers have got exactly what they want: Noel will spend years in the studio making big musical landscapes then pulling the punches and releasing a semi acoustic number as first single for next album cycle playing the same size gigs as Paul Weller, while Liam will release enough music to put on bigger shows and run through his best Oasis tunes as he becomes a better-dressed John Lydon.

(To be fair to Liam, the Down by the River Thames live album he's just released is really good)

Was the reviewer expecting some innovative new artistry from liam gallacher, think she went to the wrong gig. His set is 100% what the fans went for. He gives the fans what his brother wont.

The description of the audience is totally unwarranted, it's a group of people having a good time... it was always going to be about the nostalgia

Let's face it if Liam didn't have a brother called Noel that was able to write catchy tunes he would have spent most of his life in prison for petty crimes.
He has almost zero talent. Non-singing with attitude is still cool to some people.

I was there yesterday. What a day. Person doing a review sounds stuck up their own backside
Probably more than likely. It's the 'cool' thing to slam down popular things at the moment.

I'd have loved to have seen Paulo Nutini live, he's such an underrated singer songwriter.

I can see Oasis getting back together again for a reunion tour. Money talks at the end of day, no matter how much of a pretentious pr*ck Noel is.

I really don't believe it will happen. I watched a recent interview Noel did with Zane Lowe and Zane defended Liam, saying that Liam spoke highly of Noel when he last interviewed him.

Noel replied saying that it meant nothing to him, as Liam would be on Twitter saying the opposite, and if Liam wants to play to the gallery then that's fine, but when it matters and he's abusing my wife and daughter that's different. You could sense Noel was genuinely angry.

I think their relationship is fractured beyond repair.

I was there at Knebworth yesterday. As a younger fan who caught the tail end of Oasis, but whose first hand take of the Gallaghers came with their solo efforts, I had a great day. Think Liam's had a new lease of life over the last five years, he's the Mourinho of music, consistently defying the critics and continuing to deliver into his 50s. Really glad to see John Squire, although I'm not a massive fan of Champagne Supernova as a closing track so it was all a bit lost on me.

Kasabian were also very good, was worried that everything that had gone on with Tom Meaghan would put a dampener on things, but Serge Pizzorno is just a very good showman and their music is just built for big gigs.

Think Paolo was a bit of a disappointment, considering that he's not really had an album with broad-ranging appeal for almost a decade, I thought angling a set to new releases and slowly-crafted versions of older tracks was very strange. Not playing anything from his first album was even stranger, especially given that the day was essentially set up as a 90s/00s lovein.

Like a lot of Amyl and the Sniffers stuff but probably too early in the day for a punk band to really get the attention they warrant. Liked the fact their lead singer gave out as much as she got from some though!

Pastel are very good. Think they'll go far, get the same vibe from them as I did early Blossoms stuff.

All in all, a really good day for me, think that if you expect a live gig to be utterly perfect, you're missing out on why you're there. Well worth the trip - hope others enjoyed it just as much.

Definitely Maybe doesn't shift quarter of the copies it did without LG at the helm. Go back and listen to those first two albums, Liam had an incredibly solid singing voice before it went in the early 2000s due to his singing stance. Fact he's had such a career renaissance indicates that he's a remarkably talented individual who has produced some of the most notable British music of the last 30 years.

I thought she was too pumped at the start. Understandable with the crowd size but I thought they grew into the gig once her adrenaline fell a bit.

Agree. Think there's a bit of a culture shock generally to go from playing smaller gigs to that big a gig in an instant. Second half of set was far better than first.

I listened to Amyl and the Sniffers interviewed on Radio 6 Music the other day and could hardly understand them at times! Very broad Aussie accents.

lazy review, Liam gave the fans what they want ..... living in the past with a nod to the present , thats Liam
Is it lazy to call it a lazy review of a performance the reviewer called lazy? She clearly didn’t like the gig, is entitled to have and write an opinion as is her job and am sure many will disagree with her.

Definitely broad Aussie accents, think we're used to that in the Boro though with Schwarzer, Viduka et al!

It was an absolute bag of shoite, from the first minute you could tell his voice was shot. He was aoto tuned on 2 songs then had a massive row with one of the roadies and hid auto tune disappeared and his voice went to **** again. 2 out of ten
