Les Ferdinand on why QPR players didn’t take a knee on Friday

"Cost in terms of focus rather than financial terms."
Again, you are saying we can't address racism until what you deem to be more important is addressed it is utter nonsense.

"Is it as prevalent now as it always was?"
Or put it another way has it had a massive resurge in the last 5 years, it categorically and provably has.

"Divide and conquer. Tell people they are different, make them suspicious of each other, pit them against one another. Then act with impunity. Divisions caused by race pale when compared against the divisions in opportunity afforded to different socio economic groups."
I absolutely agree with this, which is why we need to crush racism, and get poorer people to work together not against each other. 10 years ago it was pitting hard working poor people against perceived state scrounger poor people. In the 80s it was pitting highly unionised minors and teachers against non unionised people, today it's pitting non-whites, and non-british born against everyone else. These are tools of the elite to divide and conquer, pushing the battle against racism down the priority list is giving in to this, because the elite are highly skilled at using social media to cause division.
I think we would probably agree on more than we disagree on. All I know is as I look around this tired old country of ours there are various and many equally abhorrent forms of discrimination. I stand by the points I have made. I apologise for offence caused but it is my right to express an opinion. As I said before being ‘educated’ about inequality by a multi millionaire in his mid 20s does not sit well with me. I want to watch sport without being subjected to lessons in morality. I certainly feel that some are motivated more by a desire to divide rather than unite.

Look at your comment again BoroMart and ask yourself.... all those divisions, what do they have in common ? There is a big inequality in society, it is inequality of opportunity. Once you've spent all your energy removing racism (even if it were possible), what about the next societal division ? You have to cure the cause. Cure the symptom and another one appears.

It is your right to have your opinion and once aired it's right that anyone can question it. I don't think the financial status of footballers makes their morals any better or worse. I mean Marcus Rashford, millionaire, bloody nice lad with clear morality and empathy.

Hey I'm all for dismantling the elitist structures in this country be it royalty, the honours systems, an unelected House of Lords, and a whole host of other things designed to protect the elite. But the elite didn't directly create racism. They just use it for their own gain.
