Les Ferdinand on why QPR players didn’t take a knee on Friday

But he’s not saying that though is he, he’s saying if as Kaepernick did you really feel strongly about the cause and the issue then by all means kneel but if you are just paying lip service to it without understanding the issue or agreeing with the cause then why bother. As it is a token gesture now.

You could still feel strongly about equality and not kneel. I wouldn’t kneel but still believe in equality.

I would hope such things would be personal choice.

Not possible when the media lambast anyone who doesn't do it and plaster their faces all over.
Much like the poppy fascism.

Personally I'd be happy kneeling if I was a player, and I think Assombalonga captaining our side with his fist in the air is a powerful image, but I do agree with Ferdinand's points on it.

Like I said personal choice

It's a dangerous precedent, you are giving extremists a forum to clash.
I hate to think how these demonstrations would have gone down in front of full stadiums.

There's no place for politics in sport
Whatever your views on kneeling, to say politics has no place in sport should be true, but sadly it gets hijacked by governments all over the world. From middle east, Russians buying football teams to UK willing to pay a fortune for Olympics are all political

That is political corruption and isn't allowed. Although it happens, it is not authorised politics.

The BLM kneel is both authorised and encouraged. (And now almost mandatory)

When I turn on the TV or attend a match, it is my time to relax and enjoy some sport, get away from other stresses in life etc. It is a form of entertainment. I don't want to be debating with Jonny Redneck or Liberal Lenny about whether players should be kneeling and what my opinions on the BLM movement are which is inevitably what happens.

I agree it should be an individual or team led decision. I have no problem with it but feel actions are far better than gestures as it does nothing to progress the lives of black people in the community, it appears purely symbolic to me because they fear how they will be perceived if they stop it. The biggest issue I have is why when Match Of The Day is on, why the BBC feel the need to show the teams taking the knee as part of the match highlights.

What are they going to do when crowds are allowed back in? If they continue with the kneel it is inevitable that sections of certain crowds will boo. Its going to cause offence to players and supporters. It may cause conflict amongst supporters. Particularly where alcohol is involved etc.

It just isn't a good idea. Leave those battles in Trafalger Square and let people just go and enjoy a game of football.

I agree with Les Ferdinand btw... A one off spontaneous kneel would send a very powerful message. A mandatory kneel across the sport means very little at all.
