Leeds and Liverpool fans in meltdown

Fact is clubs need the cash , right now wel have 3 games plus qpr on the 4th Of April so it’s not the end of the world

We could fit a game inbetween qpr and millwall plus 2 more before the end of the season but obviously police come into it aswell

Leeds haven’t done enough to justify beingPromoted yet so no idea why there fans are so unhappy As they lost to Barnsley the other week and only just beat us so they are hardly in invincible themselves.

They could easily still finish out of the top 2

I’ve read some of the stuff on their messageboard MOT and it doesn’t read any worse than stuff we would be saying if we were in their position. In fact quite a few contributions are simply matter of fact All clubs have got their uber whingers and melodramatic contributors.

The fixtures for this season need to be completed at the first possible juncture if that in turn leads to the start of next season being delayed then so be it. I have heard that emergency extensions will be available on contracts, I assume the FA & EFL will be giving handouts to cover the financial impact of this decision otherwise we will see clubs going to the wall.

Just play the games behind closed doors. Televise as normal. Refund tickets for those games (or give free access to televised games). Ban all games being televised in pubs with appropriate compensation on licence fees. It is the only fair way of doing it.

If all games are played behind closed doors, there's no need for 3pm kick offs.

So potentially ALL games could be televised live with staggered kick offs - a win-win for the fans, and Sky/BT.

Exactly right. Yes there might be some missing through illness but such is the normal season. I’m sure they can manage.

Estimates are that the peak of the virus may be 10-14 weeks away, that will take us till the middle of June - I’d say we might be struggling to start next season on time let alone finish this one

All the more reason to prioritise completing this season. Out of contract players will fall over themselves to sign a short term contract to finish the season. Very small number wouldn’t. For the PL it’s 10 games. Play twice a week and it will take under 5 weeks to finish.

Agreed. Why should a season that doesn't yet exist and may never exist, take precedence over this season which is almost complete?

If they void the premier league season and other leagues in europe dont then who makes up the champions league next season

Bin the FA Cup and European competitions.
Plan for each team to play every 3 days from start of May to end of May. 31 days, 9 games each.
Play offs take a week, unilaterally extend contracts by 2 weeks if needed.

Personally I don’t think this season will be completed - this virus is going to rumble on for at least another 3-4 months minimum, there’s no way they’ll fit these fixtures in before next season starts

Some one mentioned about deep rules with in football to cope with these type of scenarios and as crazy as it may seem I’d be surprised that there isn’t some sort of what if contingent built in.

As let’s not forget fifa still has the option of drawing lots still in their rules if all things are still equal.

Yes rule 7 fifa states

This would invoke the seventh and final tiebreaker: Drawing of lots by the FIFA Organizing Committee.

Q: How would this work, exactly?

FIFA spokesperson: “The said draw would follow a standard procedure: balls with paper slips with the names of the respective teams would be drawn from a bowl. The member of the Organizing Committee would mix and pick up a ball before showing the respective slip. The first team drawn would be considered as the group winner / qualifier from the group (depending on what is to be determined).
( cited in 2014 article )

So football isn’t always about sporting fairness so I wouldn’t rule anything out.

The European cup must be scrapped or put back until next yr .

If we had time for the European cup we’ve got time to finish the league .
