Latte Lath

hopefully he stays fit for the run in and starts most games. We need to build for next season and he can be a big part. His pace will give us options for sure.

Realistically we need another striker. Two of we decide to love Coburn out on loan.

New to the league, was getting better and better prior to his injury.

Good movement, explosive pace, finishing was improving as he settled.

7 in 23 in an injury disrupted first season. A goal every 190 mins.
Yep that’s about what he is - a goal every three or so games, which isn’t really prolific enough

A lot of those were sub appearances.

Scoring at his current rate he’s getting you 20 a season if he stays fit. I think he’s capable of that. Especially in a settled side with McGree, Azaz and Jones behind him

Striker market is so so tough.
Latte was over £5m wasn't he?

Crazy really on a 'rough diamond'.
Haven't checked but he wasn't a regular for Atalanta was he?

Mackem fans after a striker for 2 seasons. Bought untested kids who have all failed.
At least Gibson has a go. Akpom cost a rumoured £2.8m and £28k weekly salary. Only came good after a couple of years.

You need balls of steel to trade in the striker market.

Manny it's a player you don't mind giving a bit of time to. For his first season he has done quite well and you can easily imagine him getting better by staying injury free and helping with his team mates.

He looks like a 20+ a season striker to me.

Really hope he can stay injury free for the rest of the season, it’s difficult to know just how good he could be when he’s had barely a run of games. Such a shame that our pacy players have had such bad luck (is it luck?) with injuries. Bangura, Jones and Latte Lath. Hope we’re looking into that a bit further.

Poor ball control
This is the clincher for me. He's also poor at holding the ball up, which is why we look better with Coburn and one reason why with Akpom. But that can be coached; I'm not sure a first touch really can.
On the plus side he's quite busy and quite quick. He's not rubbish, just not really worth 4 mil.

we don't hoof it to anyone to hold up. We play it out , even if it costs us games , which it does , lots of them . Holding the ball up will be required of him less than 5% of his play

This...
A major issue with Lath is that he seems to have a very heavy touch - not sure how that can be ironed out.
Mind you, he showed more graft and aggression when he came on yesterday than the rest put together.

He doesn’t have the composure to be a 20 goal a season striker. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player miss so many one on ones with the keeper than him

But the statistics suggest otherwise?

And remember, these stats are coming to a new country and a new league, plus having an injury hit season.

Like him and Josh together, "physical workhorse" our results are better when Josh plays or it definitely feels that way, he just gives us a presence!

The difference between our results when Josh has played and hasn't is incredible. With him our results are literally top two, without him literally bottom of the league. Could be a coincidence but it's a big one.

Edit- in games that Coburn has played at least 40+ minutes in, 10 wins in 14 games. Over 2 points a game, title winning form. Without him 14 points from 19 games! Relegated by Easter form.
Plus he played in our win against Chelsea….our last home win.😱
I think he may be the player we’re missing the most.

He works hard runs about but technically is all over the place, like watching Adama all over again just without the dribbling ability

His stats suggest otherwise. He is in the top 12% for goals per minute in the championship for forwards. His xg is 5.24,he has scored 5 goals so pretty much bang on what you would expect. He has scored 5 goals in 10 starts a goal every other game.

If he played a full session and managed a goal every other game he would score 20+ goals. Not sure why you think he wouldn't.
