Klopp leaving Liverpool

This isn't particularly unusual is it, pretty standard practice for a managers staff to leave when he does and whoever comes in to bring their own in.
No it’s actually not that usual also Pep is loved by players and fans and says he is leaving to pursue management opportunities. Why not at Liverpool?

No, it 100% is completely usual.

Peter Krawietz has followed Klopp wherever he's gone since Mainz.
Graham Potter went to Chelsea with a ton of his Brighton staff, several of which had been with him since Swansea and Ostersunds.
Jose Mourinho has moved around several times with Rui Faria, Silvino Louro, Giovanni Cerra, Nuno Santos, Ricardo Formosinho, Baltemar Brito, and Carlos Lalin.
Neil Warnock has consistently brought Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson with him from job to job.
Guardiola has gone everywhere with Domenec Torrent, Lorenzo Buenaventura, Carles Planchart, and Manel Estiarte.
Carlo Ancelotti has moved from club to club with his son Davide, Francesco Mauri, Simone Montanaro, Mino Fulco, and Luca Guerra.
Luis Enrique has moved around with Joaquin Valdes, Aitor Unzue, and Rafael Pol as his staff.
Aitor Karanka has managed us, Forest, and Birmingham with Juanjo Vila, and Carlos Cachada with us and Forest. And multiple clubs after us with Carlos Luengo.

I could go on but you surely get the idea at this point. It is entirely commonplace. Managers bring in their own staff, they leave, their successors bring in their own staff, the former manager pops up somewhere else with their same staff as before.

It’s a mix. Some back room staff stay as caretaker manager as often happens at Boro for example. I’m simply say Pep was tipped to take over. He talks about it in his book so it’s strange, in this situation, how all of them are leaving at same time.

I think it would be absolute madness to follow Klopp with someone whose only managerial experience is at a second division club in the Netherlands in which he got sacked.

He was made for that club really. Brilliant manager with fantastic to watch teams, and it’s a rare and special thing when managers get to go out on their own shield.

He’ll take 6-12 months off but his next move will be interesting.

I can’t for one second see Klopp at the likes of Real Madrid or PSG or Bayern. He’s a ‘pour your heart and soul into it for 7 years’ type of manager (that’s how long he lasted at Mainz and Dortmund too) and his career has been clubs with a bit of romance, relative underdogs, where he has a lot of control and time.

Who does that leave? Napoli? Atlético Madrid? Or will he just take semi-retirement and the Germany job? Can’t see him managing in England again, can’t really see him enjoying international management that much because he likes to be so close with his players, wonder if he’ll have the motivation to put himself through the ringer again and take on another 7 year project.

One thing about Klopp is that he is emotional. Getting everyone around the club wrapped up in the same emotions is sort of the secret of his success I think. Remember him leaving Dortmund and it was like people were grieving.

Liverpool have got a big problem too, it’s nearly impossible to be the guy who follows the club legend.

Xabi Alonso seems a great guy and is doing unreal at Leverkusen but he’s only got two years of management. I think Liverpool’s too big a job for, respectfully, one season wonders like de Zerbi and Alonso. Doubt Emery will be in the mix because he already had this nightmare when he tried to follow Wenger and failed.

I have half a feeling they might go for Big Ange. He’s a Liverpool fan and low maintenance personality. The betting man in me would put money on a Xabi Alonso manager and Gerrard first team coach “dream ticket” though.

I did like him then I didn’t like him then I did like him then I thought he was a big baby then I didn’t like him then I did like him then I thought he was a moaning tvvat then I did like him….
For that reason alone, the league will be a poorer place as he was absolutely a colourful character and there aren’t enough of them around at the top of football these days.

I agree. Might be a bit too soon for Alonso.
Very inexperienced and this great season he’s having so far could still end up fruitless.

I‘ve also got a feeling SG wouldn’t be a welcome appointment for a lot of Liverpool fans. His managerial CV is very average to say the least.

Difficult choice. Would need to be a big name for me to fill his boots. Mourinho? 😉

Love Klopp and his football. He's no different from any other top manager in the way that he'll defend his team and players. Big shoes to fill.

Just as I said earlier in the thread, there was an Athletic podcast yesterday dedicated to Klopp leaving in which David Ornstein said there had been ‘whispers’ coming out of Anfield for quite some time. He said “I’m not making this up,” maybe 4 times, which to me sounds very much like what someone who was making it up would say.

I like the way Klopp did this tbh. He really wrong-footed the press and made most of them look out of the loop and uninformed. It sort of makes you think a bit more deeply about where some of the stuff you read in apparently ‘reputable’ places actually comes from. Much of their business seems to be idle speculation and general tittle-tattle.

Of course it is, they have hours and hours of content to create on all those ssn transfer shows and various podcasts.

It's all a load of waffle.

Not sure if you saw, but one of Liverpool's fans on twitter, who has a decent size following, and receives plenty of inside info, called out Ornstein on this and firmly put him in his place.

Ornstein even replied to him and acknowledged it and then tried to back peddle.

I’m not sure we are a good example
