The issue for all to see is we haven’t had a settled side this season. Right back is a major concern, the sooner Dijksteel is back fit the better. I think Fry would possibly improve with a consistent right back along side him. With the squad we have this would be my team that hopefully can get us away from the relegation zone.

Smith or Djiksteel I realize they are injured and so was McNair but Howson could have played there allowing O'Brien to play in midfield....

Square pegs in square holes , like for like formations , change the player if not performing . Play them against each other in training , the best gets 1st team role. Paddy can cover defence and midfield as needed . I would also be tempted to use Crooks deeper as the defensive midfielder , maybe he is the answer there ? Big unit , tough , but can pick a pass .

Thats what we need.
Crooks is no "forward".
Two+ seasons ago - his relationship with Jones was magnetic.
They both fed off each other in the box and Crooks was scoring some "belters".

They haven’t turned out to be **** though. They’re projects who are in the early stages of ‘turning out’ to be whatever they end up, but let’s not presume they’re all failures.
The only signings we’ve seen enough to judge are Lenihan, McGree, Forss, and Hoppe. Arguably Clarke but he’s been injured and Barlaser.
All of them have proven good value for money bar hoppe. All have contributed well bar Clarke and hoppe.

I’m not disputing a lot of that but it’s not right to just write off all of those released and final year players as poor value when some of them were key to getting them promoted. That alone justifies all of the losses you referenced and many millions more.

The big losses will be the on the ones he signed in his final season 21-22 when they were in the PL.
The "model" is said to be buy players cheaply, develop them and sell them for profit.
Kieran Scott has simply not remotely done that.

Obviously anyone you sign in a Premier league relegation season is highly likely to lose value a year or two later. Players who get you promoted then come straight back down are sometimes unfairly tainted by the relegation season.
As I said. I’m not disputing a lot of it. I just felt players like Pukki were made to look like poor value because they left at the end of a contract when they clearly contributed a lot of value in other ways.
As @SilentProf has said, I think these figures are slightly misleading. During Scott's time there the yo-yoed between the premier league and championship so what value have these players brought in terms of getting promoted? Once you get promoted there is some wastage as some aren't good enough for the higher level, so you don't sell them at a profit. Equally when you come down it's difficult to make a profit on some who have had a poor season at a higher level.
