True but it’s a big game to miss Liverpool and Man City I was surprisedis also entirely plausible that Gareth wanted to have a look at Bowen and JWP as well.

What would the Liverpool v Man City tell Gareth that he already doesn't know?True but it’s a big game to miss Liverpool and Man City I was surprised
Firstly, you have deliberately removed the first part of my sentence to change it's meaning.Fitness
Why else go then ???
Agree with every word Marv. I'll also add that he's probably seen multiple Liverpool and City games in recent months and he'll undoubtedly see many more before the end of the season. What would the Liverpool v Man City tell Gareth that he already doesn't know?
Gomez is unlikely to be in the frame.
TAA was injured
Elliott is unlikely to be in the frame.
Walker is a lock.
Stones is a lock.
Foden is a lock.
And Rico Lewis was always very unlikely to get minutes.
Whereas, in the West Ham game, you had Bowen, Ward-Prowse and Phillips - who have all been in and around the recent England squads.
It made sense for Gareth to pick West Ham v Burnley as the game to attend, instead of the Liverpool v Man City game - even though we all knew the Liverpool v Man City game would be of a much higher standard.
Yeah but who from the Liverpool game does he really need to watch?
Quansah should definitely be in the squad for the Euros
There's about 10 English CB's who deserve a spot ahead of someone who's played a small handful of games.
The bias is strong I see.
And if Konate was fit, he wouldn't be in the starting 11, nowhere near. He’s slotted straight into the Liverpool team as though he’s always been a part of it, and has rarely put a foot wrong.
It would be outrageous to even consider taking Phillips but Southgate the crab will do just thatSouthgate is clearly a fan
I wouldn’t rule it out
He's not been selected for the latest England squad.
I think that is a strong looking England squad but where is Shaw?
Henderson irritatingly does make it, but surely nobody can have any complaints with the rest of the squad.

Branthwaite is awful should not be anywhere near an England squad
Was always weak link in under 21 squad
Does the fact Bellingham is listed as a midfielder rather than a forward/attacker like Foden for example mean they're thinking of using him as a more traditional Central midfielder rather than a 10?
