Jude Bellingham is in

If we go with a 3 I reckon it'll be Phillips, Rice and Mount, although it then may become 4231 with Rice and Phillips as the two sitters.

If we go with wing-backs he'll probably again have Phillips and Rice as the two sitters.

I'm hoping he's only planning on having Henderson as an option to bring off the bench.

Will be disappointed if that is the route he goes down, it will almost instantly **** fans off and bring a negative vibe around the country. Play our best players and watch them thrive, no point being overly cautious it’s never worked for us before.

I think Southgate would play him and Foden ‘off’ Harry Kane if we were to play 343. Would leave the likes of Grealish, Sterling, Rashford, Sancho on the bench but that’s what I think he would do. Mount plays the role a lot for Chelsea.

Bellingham and Rice being the 2 central midfielders
We could potentially fit Mount, Grealish and Foden into the side with that formation. Rice and Mount in midfield, with Foden and Grealish playing off Kane. Having Mount, Grealish and Foden in the same team shoud mean we will keep the ball better than we have done in previous tournaments. Its always been an issue for us at international level.

Sadly, even if we go with that formation I think Southgate will want to have two sitters in there.

I think we would be silly to not play it against Scotland and Czech Republic but understand he will want a bit more solidity against Croatia, it will just **** me off if we line up against Scotland with Phillips alongside Rice. No statement of intent there and you are sacrificing probably our most unpredictable player in Grealish for a workman like guy in Phillips

Croatia just drew 1-1 with Armenia tonight so maybe not the force they were

They save there best for England they always have done
Strange one with Croatia. They stopped England qualifying for Euro 2008 with 2 - 0 and 2 - 3 wins. For the following World Cup Qualifiers England smashed them 1 - 4 and 5 - 1.

Time for revenge after the World Cup semi. Although we beat them in the nations league it means nothing really in comparison to Euros

It’s a tough group as one side has the Indian sign over us in tournaments and the other has a pathological obsession with beating us. Plus the Czechs who are no mugs either.

Well put. England can't think beyond each game because of that. Thankfully Southgate is fully aware of that.

He’s been playing every week for Dortmund so will wet man Southgate have the balls to play him ?
he has been scoring regular too but did get sent off about 6 weeks ago so hopefully the Dortmund management helped him with understanding that and learning from it....at 17 he could be our née Rooney but in midfield
Certainly better than anything else we have in there even at 17
He has to play....the opposition don’t really know him yet so maximum surprise package surely

I’d certainly play him

age shouldn’t be a factor either. If someone isn’t going to get played due to age then don’t take them.

we’ll see I suppose. I think the fact he’s been playing well even in the Champions League will give Southgate the confidence that his age shouldn’t matter.

Midfield is a concern for me. Can't see Henderson being fit. Shame Ward-Prowse hasn't been included. I'd have had him in instead of one of the RBs.

I'd have had Lingard in over Saka also. We've already got enough wingers and Lingard would have been a good option to come off the bench and maybe grab a goal.
we don't usually play any formation with a number 10, so what is the point in taking Lingard? Are you suggesting at times we should change formation to accomodate him or that we play him out of position? I mean England managers are constantly berated for round pegs and square holes. Lindgard is too specialist, and had two good months followed by reverting to form again during the last month.

Same with Scotland btw as they could lose every game 5-0 as long as they come close to beating us they’ll be heroes.
I think they've done well to qualify, because they're hardly blessed with talent.

I can't see them taking any points of England, although they probably will now I've said it!

"Kyle Walker played for us at centre-half as a three and at left-back during a match for us against Denmark. Reece James was in midfield against Aston Villa. Basically they are our best 26 footballers and that’s why they are in the squad. If I could have picked a fifth or sixth right-back I would have done!”

Can't say I fully agree with this philosophy but the proof will be in the pudding. If Kyle Walker ends up playing at left back something will have gone drastically wrong! (I realise this wasn't quite what he was saying but the sentiment is a bit bizarre imho).
