'Jonathan has my total support'

So no matter what happens he will stay here. Great , compound one mistake with another and let everyone know no matter how bad things get there will not be a change. That will really motivate them.
That's my finish for a while after reading that , its pure amateurism no wonder we are on the verge of another relegation.

I'm pleased Gibson has spoken. It seems to have finally flicked the light switch for many.
He has lost the plot.
Completely.
Tbf though I disagree with his analysis, I thought it was a decent statement and can see that he still cares. For what it's worth, imho being a fan and owner in modern football doesn't really work as hard headed decisions are hindered by emotion and tend to be knee jerk.

Actually, he didn’t take ownership of the mistakes. He kept using the word ‘we’. He is doing exactly what a Prime Minister does, hides behind the cloak of collective responsibility. He really is deluded. He will lose an awful lot of ST holders come the summer. Next season will be no 66/67 or 86/87 if we are relegated. Calling him clueless would be underplaying his officially approved statement. He is trying to limit damage and in reality he has added to it. He seems to believe we are going down too. To go back to Southgates tenure tells me he is aware of all the critics on here and other boards and it is also an attempt to put closure on it, a poor one at that.

Good leaders use the term we. In it together etc. He doesn’t blame individual managers he says we made mistakes

All great signs of a good leader

Not so great is not making progressing from those mistakes

While I think about leadership too, bringing that statement out is good leadership. It puts woodgate in a situation where he’s told you have time and that relieves any pressure building

That in turn now leaves woodgate to become a leader. I don’t have a clue what his leadership skills are.

I don’t know if anyone watches drive to survive, in the 2nd series there is a sharp congrats in leadership styles, Mercedes have a culture of blame the problem not the person.

Red bull and their treatment of gasly was obstructive to performance

The timing of this statement is questionable and has the potential to be filed in the ‘mistakes’ drawer with the other mistakes he speaks of. I think this is an attempt to maintain the peace tonight if things go t!ts up. Yet may have the opposite effect.

He talks of learning from mistakes. He names Southgate as a mistake, yet clearly he hasn’t learned from it, as he plonked Woodgate in charge of a season ‘cutting the cloth’.

He interestingly doesnt name Pulis when talking about managers and mistakes. Yet he then goes on to say, “problems that Jonathan inherited” - which is it Steve???

He has randomly commited to Woodgate “no matter what”. Rediculous. I know Gibson is the saviour of the club but the man is clueless when it comes to football. His jobs for the boys philosophy. He speaks of addressing the problems. He is the problem.

I suppose we are going to “smash the league “ next season. Gibson must think we are all mugs. Yes what he has done for the club over the last 30 years has been fantastic, however since the UEFA cup final then Gibson has made countless mistakes and expects us to sit back and take it. I’m absolutely flabbergasted to what Gibson has said. I know that if I wasn’t doing my job properly then I’d be sacked. This has angered me as everyone can see what is happening and Gibson has thinks the clubs best years are ahead of us. Really?

Ye but he didn’t we would smash the league. ‘We want to smash the league’ his words were followed up by actions at the time, he employed monk, who at the time was regarded in the game, and he back him financially to do it

We constantly can’t keep blaming Monk for every mistake. Gibson was the man who employed him and gave him the money to waste. Gibson has made countless mistakes and appointing Woodgate is a massive mistake. The team we have with a manager that knows what he is doing would not be sat third from bottom at the moment.

Coure he's ignoring the general feeling. There are fans who believe that Gibson can do no wrong. He is the messiah and if he decided to close the club, sell off the ground and turn the pitch into a potato field, they'd say he made the right call. There are none so blind as they who will not see...

Where have I said that? Mistakes have been made, the Woodgate appointment being one of them. I don’t think he has the attributes to be a success.

Am I happy with the current situation? No.

We‘ve been here time and time again supporting the club. Think 85/86, 93/94, 97/98, 2009/10, 16/17. We’ve bounced back before and we will bounce back again. Every club and their fans want success, and good signings, and to play exciting football, unfortunately most clubs and fans end up being disappointed one way or another.

Steve Gibson isn’t making bad decisions on purpose, he’s trying to do what he sees as the right things for the club. Can he do better? Yes he can, and I’m sure he knows that himself.

The guy lost the plot a long time ago - just go support the team if you can an enjoy yourself. A win an seeing a bit of good football is just a bonus !

Steve Gibson and the fans are like a love less marriage and wont get a divorce because they have been together so long they are afraid of being on their own.
Gibson and what he has done over the years is like not leaving because the wife is the mother of your children.
Maybe, just maybe, if we were to get that divorce we find a new partner and things might turn out for the good.

But the acknowledged mistake could be *getting rid* of Southgate

Well if that’s what he thinks was the mistake, and that he should have kept him in the second tier and watched him lead us back to where we were, despite any real evidence that Southgate had the required ability to do so, it looks like we’re definitely stuck with Woodgate for another 2 years. I just hope we’re not in liquidation by the end of it.
