'Jonathan has my total support'

Perhaps Gibson simply can’t afford to keep pumping the money into the club at current levels and sees relegation as a way of downsizing in terms of big contracts etc and moving players on, it would explain his reluctance to act with regards to Woodgate.

Maybe he does, people said that when we came down from the Premier League too though, in 2009, during the global financial crisis.

The problem is that the third tier is not our natural habit. You can make a case for both top tiers being our natural habit, or more fairly, yo-yoing between the two, but the third tier will be a bitter pill for most fans to swallow. Hit back at the first attempt, then it might all work out well, but does anyone, even Gibson, have that much faith in Woodgate to deliver that? Lose our first game or two in the third tier and the atmosphere will be absolutely toxic in the Riverside.

How did you come to this conclusion?

Yeah I don't think too many were opposed to it, but I can't recall many being excited by it either. As atypical says apathetic is probably about right. Even at time his record was a mixed bag, some good spells and some bad so we didn't really know to expect.

There were lots of people who were able to see Monk's bland nothingness and record of just sliding away.
