Jesus, what just happened in Beirut?

Someone posted this photo on Reddit claiming that it was taken on 4th August this year and is of the warehouse in question.
The storage facilities look a little lax to say the least :(.

It's wiki, it's proof of nothing

I'm not trying to prove anything, my observation, nothing more than that, was I smelled a rat because we have a rare occurrence, not impossible but unlikely, in one of the most violently volatile areas of a volatile area. A group of 8 blokes armed with nothing more than box cutters carried out the single most deadly attack on the US mainland, it's not beyond the realms of the imagination that another group managed to get an explosive device into that warehouse which would have triggered the explosion. I smelled a rat, nothing more, don't know why you're so exercised about it.

The fact that something isn't beyond the realms of imagination doesn't give it any credence. This is how conspiracy theories start. Your idea may not be completely unfeasible, but that doesn't give it equal probability to the official story. Not by a long way

I'm not trying to start a conspiracy theory or prove anything. My degree's in chemistry and my first year after graduation was spent researching flames for tracers, flares and incendiaries. I was thinking out loud. This is a footy message board plus not a research facility.

It's more than just a footy messageboard. You should know that wiki is not a starting point for any kind of research

My head hurts. I'm not even going to bother answering that.

You win the internet.

At least the next time I want patronising I'll know where to go.

"You should know that wiki is not a starting point for any kind of research"
I vehemently disagree with your comment.
Wikipedia can be an excellent starting point for an area of research, just make sure that you are aware of the validity (or lack thereof) of the references that are listed in the article. Yes articles can be open to abuse through silly edits, but there is an awful lot of good information on the site.

I was going to reply along these lines myself but it just seemed to me that it was developing into argument for argument's sake. Hence my comment about not bothering. Wiki makes a poor ending point for research but it can be ideal for making a start.

like I said, 60 edits on that article in 24 hours, go to the references maybe but the article itself is compromised

You are giving credence to the official story not being the truth, that's a conspiracy theory. That's your choice, but lets not pretend that you are not doing that. Sorry if it sounds patronising or argumentative, it's not, I'm just saying what I see. Maybe I need to start filtering to account for people's sensitivities a little more.

"giving credence to the official story not being the truth" is not conspiracy, even if I was giving credence to anything. I beg to give credence to the theory that the Blair / Campbell official dodgy dossier was a lie.

I'm finished with this now anyway, way off the point. Carry on if you like.

Also don't forget those fellas had limited training flying Cessna light aircrafts hijacking complicated jet liners and navigating them to the targets in New York and Washington DC.

😏
