Jesus, what just happened in Beirut?

Fire at a warehouse for firecrackers being reported.
A few years ago there was one in the Netherlands & people had gathered round to watch the display, there were some deaths iirc.
It is hard not to see there being substantially more casualties here though.
 
It’s definitely not a nuclear explosion. Would love to know what it was though. Loads of seeming fireworks going off first then the huge explosion that engulfed the silo building? Me thinks whatever was stored there shouldn’t have been in a populated area
 
Sky News saying it’s a fireworks factory...never knew they could do damage like that. Windows shattered 12 miles away 😮..there must have surely been something naughty stored there, or next door.

There was a big fire going already. That has spread to presumably a massive gunpowder or chemical store. I wonder how it compares to the Messines ridge one in WW1. Or the boat used in the St Nazaire raid in WW2.
