Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been suspended from the parliamentary Labour party and has had the whip removed.

A party spokesman said: "In light of his comments made today and his failure to retract them subsequently, the Labour Party has suspended Jeremy Corbyn pending investigation. He has also had the whip removed from the Parliamentary Labour Party."

The Labour Party was found to have broken the law in its failure to handle antisemitism complaints and there were "serious failings" by its leadership, the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has concluded.
An investigation into antisemitism in the party by the commission found it responsible for "unlawful acts of harassment and discrimination" - and said there was political interference into complaints.
It said Labour broke the law in three areas:
  • Political interference in antisemitism complaints
  • Failure to provide adequate training to those handling antisemitism complaints
  • Harassment of those who complained

He threatened their wealth and power, he’s had four years of media attacks and smears, now the establishment are doing everything they can to ruin him to deter others.

The equality and human rights commission are out to ruin him?

Here's Corbyn's actual statement before everyone gets too carried away. Struggling to see what exactly anyone could object to. Labour have clarified it's this statement he's got the boot for, not any of the findings in the actual report.

On the day a report comes out highlighting the significant problems that Labour has had with anti-Semitism, he reacts by saying the issues were exaggerated.
He's dug his own grave here.

Oh Jeremy Corbyn!

Unfortunately he has become utterly toxic and Starmer (or any other potential leader) would be completely unelectable with Corbyn or any Corbynistas lingering around the party like a bad smell. It's just giving Tories et al. free ammunition.

He's careful to word that statement with a lot of "I" but the issue went beyond him alone - a party he led - and by failing to agree to recognise that is ultra stubborn and political suicide.

About forty years too late. Corbyn and his ilk have resulted in the two worst governments in my lifetime, Thatcher and Johnson, one started to destroy the fabric of our society through ideology and one who will finish the job through incompetence and corruption.

I think starmer is doing a bit of house cleaning and using Corbyn statement wrongly to do so. If it helps get rid of the current tory shambles it will be worth it and I say that s someone who like Corbyn. He was treated very unfairly but that's life.

And they were. We all know it. Why pretend they weren't?

Whether they were or weren't, it's the sort of moronic response that typified Corbyn's time in charge. It helped no-one to include that section, and helped no-one to refuse to retract it.

All had to do was remove the section calling the issues overstated and that he didn't accept the findings and he'd not be suspended.
