Its not gone away 2

Its not just about about the pandemic it was refernace to a point DCI Gene Hunt made regarding peopole will do as they please, rules dont apply to them

Though a driver did get pulled over by the police for speeding, his excuse was, 'Im trying to get away from the virus',

Human nature unfortunately, it's the same all over the world although easy to be mistaken that it's just in the UK.

I understand we need to reestablish routines and try and return to normal but my point is that the government, and the majority of the population, see the deaths of 123 people as acceptable when they are attributed to Covid.

Is this acceptance down to boredom with it all? Is it down to the confused, mixed and slow messages from government? Probably a combination of both.

How would people react if that number died in a train crash, a plane crash or in a terrorist attack?

Not as clear cut tho. A lot of those 123 will be care home deaths, attributed to covid but very possibly also a result of something else. Or some of those people may have died of something else at a similar time had they not contracted Covid (most other bugs etc have been in huge decline cos of social distancing).

Not saying that Covid isn’t still significant, or should be laughed off (it shouldn’t) but just that it’s not quite the same as 123 random people dying in a train crash.

Figures have typically been higher on Mondays and Fridays: a product of reporting systems rather than the disease. This is the UK's pattern including yesterday, and the pattern is clear.

I think this pandemic has shown that no matter what the situation is the 'im alright Jacks' of this world will do as they please

I will buy as much toilet roll as I want, I will go round families houses, I will join in a protest, infact, I will over take that car infront going 30MPH in a 30MPH zone because, well because I'm more important
Agree with all of this, apart form the last bit, as the car was clearly doing 29MPH...

The fact is we are largely a bunch of selfish aris-holes, community is dead, social responsibility is something for others, wealth, BMW and personal freedom is the king for many. Years of self-centred libertarian and free market ideology and deriding of socialism have to led to this general mindset

And also spread over multiple days which the doomongerers forgot to mention.

Cancer and old age are probably killing more people each day but nothing seems to be been done about that either.

Stop wheeling these lies out. There's a lot being done for people with critical illnesses, and much done for those with non critical cases too.

As for returning to the norm, are we all mad enough to want to do that. Can't some good come from this disaster rather than returning to the pre pandemic stupidity?

And multiple days, and multiple days, and multiple days which the simplistic fail to mention. Perhaps we should just look at the 7 day averages.
Or perhaps people should just get on with life instead of stressing over stuff out of our control?

PHE numbers have been determined to be false. They even admitted it. May aswell take all your graphs and numbers, throw them in the bin and start again when they have been corrected and reviewed.

With regards to wearing masks in shops etc. It is hard to understand why now, when arguably we should have been doing this since June. However I think we are being asked to do it now, to get us used to it, before a possible second peak in Autumn or Winter when we will be inside more.

The ONS corrects them each week as PHE have vastly underestimated the numbers.

Not enough though.
Fags still for sale, kids can still buy and eat as much McDonalds as they want. They've pretty much obliterated home economics in schools thus leaving generations of kids without the skills to cook for themselves therefore relying on microwave meals and takeouts full of salt. A+E full of drunk idiots every weekend and no control over that.

Yes all those things are wrong and governments should be addressing them but that doesn't just mean we ignore the killer in the air all around us
