It’s not just about Black people being murdered

My wife regularly gets followed round supermarkets when she’s on her own, by security. She doesn’t get that upset about it, has almost just accepted it.

Don’t think it’s ever happened to me in my life. I’ve certainly not noticed if it has.

Why didn't they just show them their drivers licence? The police have every right to continue any enquiries, is this going to happen every time someone from the BAME community is questioned? The bandwagon comment didn't help the situation whatsoever the woman needs to be retrained.

When I was a young un we used to send the black lad into Hintons Berwick Hills first as the decoy.
We would then clean up

Shameful in hindsight but I'm sure how much progress we have made since the late 60's

The question is - why did they look suspicious? Skin colour - that's why.
If you find that satisfactory fair enough
I don't think video paints the full picture, the comments about jumping on the bandwagon were very wrong and they will rightfully be reprimanded for that. I have been pulled after parking my car because the car was registered to my dad but I had permission to drive it, it's normal to ask for the licence, I don't think they did this because they were black.

Also I don't find that satisfactory whatsoever, why would I? I just don't believe they were pulled because of the colour of their skin.

They were pulled for acting suspiciously -
Some people do find it satisfactory btw

I've been stopped twice in my life, once for speeding and once for a faulty brake light. I've never been stopped in the street. A colleague I sit next to at work of similar age, same qualifications and profession has been stopped dozens of times. He's black.

Okay and what if they were acting suspiciously? Like I said the video doesn't paint the full picture, does it come to a point that you can no longer ask someone for their drivers licence because they are black? The police need to do their jobs without the fear of being called a racist.

Did someone write that? Immunity for the police!!!!!!

Not at all bear, don't twist my words. The police should be monitored and be prosecuted should they discriminate or break the law themselves. That's why they wear body cameras.

I don’t think there is any great revelation that these things go on as a result of inert prejudice. The issue is how do you prevent it.
Have an independent police complaints system. Currently, only serious cases and corruption are investigated independently.

I'm glad you agree that a racist policeman should be in fear of being accused a racist.

As far as body cameras, they only tell half the story.

I agree with this. But the reality is that if you ask 10 white people how often they are stopped/followed by police, and 10 black people, you will get very different responses the vast majority of the time.

So until that imbalance is redressed, instances like this video will continue to be scrutinised.

I've never once been pulled for parking my car. I've been pulled three times, once for speeding, because I was, once for having an unroadworthy car (the headlight was out and it was dark so easy spot) and once for drink driving. I WASN'T drink driving but the copper told me I was pulling out of a pub car pack so they had reason to believe...

My point being all three times there was a very clear and reasonable explanation to me being pulled over. I've never been pulled over for parking on y own or my parents drive.
