Trumpland) the other day which puts the problem in a nutshell. Interesting to see that Biden won in 477 counties in the US and those counties account for 70% of the economy. Trump won in 2497 counties which account for 29% of the economy. American is completely 'siloed'.
In large part I believe the problem stems from the destruction of manufacturing industry in the US, UK and many Western countries. Here in the UK we totally consumed the 'Service Economy' Kool-Aid. It always seemed to me that jobs at the bottom of the service economy were going to be minimum wage and it's only got worse. Costs are now cut to the bone and it's the workers who pay.
What angers me is that the people who have ridden this wave of disenchantment are not going to address the problem they're just using it to grab power and influence for their own ends. Does anybody really believe that a bunch of city traders, hedge fund managers, and old Etonians are the ones to 'level up' the country.
Of course Trump had to go, he's a nut job but he or someone of his ilk will be back unless the underlying issues are attended to.
