Thank Christ for the Bomb, brings everything to a stalemate.
Yeah, I'm sure he does, doesn't mean it will.he wants this to happen in HIS lifetime
It reminds me of a great quote from a crap movie where, I think John Wayne, rallying his troops shouts the immortal line “Gentlemen of the Middle Ages we are about to enter the 100 years war” . It’s all about perspective. That’s an interesting idea that never crossed my mind before and it sent me on a rabbit hole.
It looks we declared war with Germany (Neville Chamberlains famous Radio broadcast) on 3 September 1939 but it was President Truman who signed Approved and approved a declaration 11 September 1945 which used the Title of World War 2.
Lots of posters on this board have some great thoughts and Ideas that make you realise there are lots of things you didn’t know that you didn’t know.
Not mine 1Finny, I would not have it so. It is that of our world. If GDP is your benchmark - it isn't a side show
That wasn't the only time we had a near miss, saved by a Russian taking time to think about it.This bloke refused to launch a nuclear missile during the Cuban missile crisis. He was one of three aboard a submarine all whose authorisation was required to launch. The US not being a bunch of macho imbeciles had given this burden to the US president. The submarine was being depth charged by the US and was out of contact with Moscow. The other two thought that war had already broken out and wanted to launch. He did not and thanks to that we are still here today. F***ing russians though. This guy may be the only one among them who isn't a total ****.

It also gives the western world a problem with the Ukraine issue. The world seems to be standing by while Israel prepares to invade Palestine. While they look for Hamas, civilians will be killed = Ethnic cleansing.

Who decides when an invasion is ‘good’ or not?
Given the wider context it was absolutely incredible clear thinking & decision making. That wasn't the only time we had a near miss, saved by a Russian taking time to think about it.

I've read about this before. The systems were fooled by cloud formations or sun reflections off the clouds or something, and this fella decided that an attack of only 5 missiles was highly unlikely. It's kind of terrifying to think that such as mistake could have led to the end of the world. I'd just turned 13 at the time.Given the wider context it was absolutely incredible clear thinking & decision making.
On 1 September 1983 Russia had shot down a South Korean passenger plane. All 269 people aboard the aircraft were killed including a number of Americans, one of which was U.S. Congressman Larry McDonald.
The US went on high alert & the Russians did too expecting a retaliatory attack.
The doctrine of mutual assured destruction meant notification from the early-warning systems that inbound missiles had been detected, the Soviet Union's strategy was an immediate nuclear counter-attack against the US.
On the 26 September the systems Petrov was manning detected 5 in-bound missiles, he should've reported it, Russia would've (probably) undertaken a counter launch against the US.
There'd be no liquidation, no rise under Rioch, the 1st Wembley appearance, 1st major cup final appearance, 1st major trophy, 1st European final wouldn't have happened & I wouldn't have been there to see them all.
Tragic.
Yes Had he followed protocol none us would be here now.I've read about this before. That’s why they’ve done it as after this time they have carte Blanche to go in and then say to the UN and wider world well we told them to leave and gave them fair warning etcWhat the f*ck is going on? This evacuation order that has been announced by Israel is totally unachievable and madness. Are we about to see mass genocide?
Meanwhile the West continue to send military support to the region.
