Ince

I like to think I'm as fair as anyone when it comes to refereeing decisions and I still haven't seen a replay that tells me their penalty claim was a definite penalty. Maybe it will be clearer in the official highlights tomorrow. Archer's penalty claim however was 100% a penalty with clear video evidence. I think Ince knows his job is on the line and his body language in that video shows it.

I don’t think so. I think that’s only for unsporting conduct. Todays was fair game. He wasn’t standing there holding it like Dibble was for Crosby’s cheeky header.
If the keeper has one hand on top of the ball and it’s on the floor he is deemed to have control. I believe that’s always been the rule.

If that’s the case then it should be their free kick. Unless the ball was outside the box.

His son should have had a red as well for a deliberate elbow.
Yeah that looked ropey. He knew what he was doing there.

The Long incident was absolutely stone wall. I couldn’t believe he didn’t give it at the time and just seen it on tv and it looked even more obvious.

Our penalty decision was correct.
I do agree with him it was a penalty for them and a sending off BUT when you're up there you get the luck. For 90 minutes we out played them and sent them home in embarrassment
Penalty yes, red not so sure. Both players were manhandling each other and smith seemed to lose his footing and tangle wih Longs legs.

To be fair to the ref Shane Long has a 15 year reputation for taking a dive, which might have played on the refs mind.

Absolutely no reason why we didn’t get the pen for the stamp on archers foot and I’d like to see the GK potential handball from another angle, which would have been a red

I’m 99% sure the ball crossed all the way over the line. I could see grass between the ball and the line even with my poor eyesight. The keeper never left go of it. He just pulled it back and turned back into the box with it. The linesman and the ref should both have seen it pretty clearly.
The old "grass between the ball and line" chestnut. It proves nothing. It was debated to death during the WC.
The linesman and ref probably did see it more clearly than you tbf.

I thought that, when I heard Ince talking about red card I wondered what he was on about.

I then twigged and thought he must be thinking last men = red card. Not anymore.

Theirs was a penalty, not sure it’d have been a red though?
Ours was a penalty, soft but it is. The Archer claim was also a penalty from where I was sat, and I’d like to see the keeper incident again.
Do you think? It was right in front of me and it didn't look like there was much in it?

Seeing grass doesn't mean the ball was fully over the line. Imagine looking down on it

Reading should have had a penalty and smith sent off watching it back again, they were thumped today though. They need to be better for Tuesday for the blades game in hand.

100% the ball didn’t cross the line at any point.

It looked the same as the Forss penalty, Long gets marginally ahead & then moves in front of Smith to initiate contact and goes down.

The only differences are Smith had fallen over at that point & Steffen was gathering the ball, but still a penalty to me.

I don’t think “last man” was ever the rule? Unless that was the case when first introduced. I think that’s something commentators continuously reference which doesn’t help.

The rule is “denying a goal scoring opportunity”.

But if it’s in the penalty area double jeopardy comes into play. That’s the new rule.

So you only send the man off if he’s made no attempt to play the ball when making the foul.

I think that would have been the case with Smith. I don’t think he can win the ball and he’s just trying to make it difficult for Long but ends up fouling him. Therefore a red for me.

Yes and If my auntie had balls…

Look it wasn’t given so nothing to discuss.

Ince is just bitter
