Anyone who does feel intimidated by SUVs on a motorway should re-evaluate whether they should be driving at all.
I can understand passing SUVs on narrower, single lane country roads being intimidating but most SUVs are only very slightly wider than a standard hatchback. My Honda CRV is only 120mm wider than a ford fiesta.... It's just an optical illusion. It feels tighter because they are higher, not actually that much wider. (Although that extra 120mm obviously makes enough difference to jam my car seats in )
Also, people in SUVs are more likely to drive on verges or mount kerbs where required to let you past...
