The Skoda Kodaq is a massive tank of an SUV but really nice to drive. They have really improved their brandI recently changed from an SUV to an estate and I now miss the ability to see beyond the car in front when driving on the motorway. Saying that, my "SUV" was a Skoda Yeti, so probably not exactly the target of the anti-SUV crowd, and certainly nothing phallic about it!
How many people and have 3 kids under 10? And how many SUVs have 3 full seats in the back. Not many in my experience. If you have 3 kids under 10 years, you need at SUV these days due to the car seat laws. Standard cars don't fit the 3 car seats across a back seat. Believe me, I know. We spent many days wandering around car garages lumping car seats in and out of vehicles testing it.
I think this is partly to blame for the increase of SUVs on the road.
Ye envy of people driving something that I would never want to drive myself. Consumerism is the drive of it.A lot of SUVs are the same dimensions length and widith as normal cars only difference being a higher wheel position. The posts on here against SUVs are nothing to with environmental matters and all to do with envy. Phalic envy in the case above
Are you after an actual figure? I wouldn't say it was hugely rare to have 3 kids under the age of 10. Plenty of parents on the school run in the same boat as us. We only have 1 SUV and I drive a smaller run around which means I can't fit the 3 kids in my car. So we have to plan our days around this, doing drop offs etc. If I could afford a second SUV, I would have one for convenience. How many people and have 3 kids under 10? Sounds like you’re a doyle in my eyes, getting people parking tickets because they drive SUV’s. Think you need to get a life.Another illustration of how this country and the people in it are a total lost cause - the popularity of jacked up cars otherwise known as SUVs
These things have never made sense. They drive poorly, are less efficient and much more expensive to run and repair than normal cars. The biggest laugh is they are now taking these already heavy vehicles and sticking a battery in them that weighs half a ton plus. It defeats the whole object of what an electric vehicle should be. That's why EVs are a shambles and certain to fail in their current form.
It actually turns out that these EVs are probably causing more damage to the environment than traditional cars. Noticed how bad the roads have got in recent years? The weight of a vehicle has a direct impact on the road surface and repairs and maintenance need to be increased dramatically. Unnecessary SUVs are a major problem but it becomes a problem on steroids when EVs are introduced. The tyre emissions also go up massively meaning any benefit to the environment has long disappeared, if it actually existed at all.
There's a house near me with a few vehicles on the drive - two SUVs and an electric. I knocked on their door a while back and told them to sell the lot of them only to be told where to go. Anyway, I made a note of the plate numbers and played my hand accordingly. I've managed to get them quite a few parking tickets when I've spotted them out and about. There was a really cheeky one where I spotted their ticket had 10 mins to go, so I hung about and got a traffic warden ready to pounce. I got a Costa in and watched the situation unfold out of sight. They returned just as the ticket had been issued. I'm not sure what was in that coffee, but it certainly tasted good, gents.
I think people of a certain age haven't realised the world has changed. People no longer live where they grew up as default. People move around the country. Anyone that doesn't live near family but visits them regularly will attest to the amount of journeys with a full car of luggage you need. I know we probably do an average of a long round trip per month. That's fine in a small car if it's just a couple of adults but as soon as you throw 2 kids in the mix and/or lose the ability to use the back seat for luggage then you need something with a much bigger boot. Car seats take a lot of space, travel cots, prams and then all the other stuff etc. SUVs (which I'm taking to just mean big cars) give more space for those things than their smaller counterparts don't. Add on to that the driving position is preferable, particularly for short people and you can see why they are the 1st choice for many. How many people and have 3 kids under 10? YesOr are people classing larger family cars such as Qashqai’s, Sportage’s, Q3’s etc as SUV’s?
Especially when it's almost impossible to get an electric version of the most practical alternative an estate carAre you after an actual figure? A lot of people quick to slag off "stay at home mums" driving around in their SUVs, but quite a lot of them don't have any choice.
I wouldn't say it's common, however I would say it is rare for a qashqai or Sportage type car to have 3 isofix seats. We ended up with a people carrier as it had 3 full seats plus a boot for pushchair etc.Are you after an actual figure? I wouldn't say it was hugely rare to have 3 kids under the age of 10. not the choice of some left wing hippie on a football forum
Please explain how SUV's if they meet a certain MPG figure are any worse than 2 litre turbo or twin turbo smaller cars at saving the planet, or older cars still being driven around with pathetic MPGThem pesky left wing hippies trying to save the planet so all these kids being driven around in the back of SUVs have a future.
It's actually a real problem though. If you have 3 young kids, you need a people carrier/SUV to meet the legal requirement for child seats. Alternatively, you take 2 cars every time you want to travel outside of walking distance.... I'm sure that is worse for the environment than the SUV.Them pesky left wing hippies trying to save the planet so all these kids being driven around in the back of SUVs have a future.
People complaining about having Suv's but not complaing about having 3, 4 or 5 kids
What has the greatest impct on the environment over the long term?
If people want to drive an SUV it's their choice, not the choice of some left wing hippie on a football forum, complain to the governments who allow the use of SUV's
for allowing them on the roads, not having a go at people who make a life choice
What next , having a go at people who own houses with more than 80 square meters of living space?
