I'd start Jones on Saturday

Doak all day, but I would occasionally swap wings during a game to keep the opposition guessing, most of any team we play will have been working on how to stop Doak all week in training.

Ripley and Hendrie used to change sides no reason why Jones and Doak couldn't do the same when one isnt getting the better of a full back

Forss has only played 3,220 minutes out of a possible 10,260 in the Championship for us since signing 2 and a half years ago, 31% of what was possible, and largely in the first season.

In the last 18 months, he's played 1,160 minutes of a possible 5,940.
Less than 20%.

He's missed the squad entirely in 38 of the last 66 league games, and most of the matches he did make the squad he was coming back from injury and not match fit.

When fit, great finisher and a great player, but he's never fit.
Wow those stats are almost as bad as Vidukas without the world class contributions in between.

I like Izzy, I like his attitude and on form he can be a positive force but...

Just no, covered better by other posters

I really want to see Jones given a chance on the left.
Exactly why not play them both start Doak left, Jones Right and Switch them up give them the freedom to interchange across the front 3 positions this could also then mean that one of Riley, Azaz or Gilbert, play in No 10.

Doak definitively starts for me... However, I do agree Jones should not be forgotten about... Bring him on after 70~ mins.

Controversial, I know. I just don't think Jones should be forgotten about. On his day he is a match winner. Good at tracking back and 'clever' at drawing free kicks and penalties.

Lath and Conway are constantly being rotated. Let's keep Jones match sharp. He can be important to us.
Someone mentioned it on the board weeks ago - the jones under Warnock was a completely different player, he is a player that runs onto the ball and runs with it - Carrick's style doesn't play that way - players pass it and move which isn't Jones's game - and why he has faded and is a shadow of the player when Carrick arrived - Carrick, you could argue has turned Jones into a worse player by not understanding his strengths and nurturing them.

The exact same is true of Doak. He likes to get the ball and run at teams - which is not the type of football Carrick plays. Watch Doak's potency and confidence slowly fade as the season goes on - WE ARE ALREADY STARTING TO SEE IT WITH DOAK - people say tiredness but Doak is like Jones was when Jones burst onto the scene - direct and running at players.
The exact opposite of what Carrick drill into players and takes the explosiveness out of them.

I really want Carrick gone. His blind spots with his particular style are horrendous for the development of our team.

The only time I can remember Carrick trying something different was Leicester away last season and it worked a treat. We beat the would be Champions on their own patch, by being inventive, unpredictable and having an alternative game plan. It's baffling why we haven't done it since, especially in big games. Even mid game we never try anything different, its always like for like.

Could have easily brought McGree off at 60 minutes the other night for Ayling and put him in as an additional centre back. Jones on at RWB and Howson to sit in midfield. Fresh legs on up top. That way we would be able to double up on James, have another body in the box and hit them on the counter.

...............................Dieng

...........Ayling...Edmundson...Clarke
Jones.......................................................Borges

............Hackney...Howson...Azaz

..........................Doak
................................Conway

True. We all know that Jones can be effective. We are wasting him and losing an asset which can be effective to Boro.

jones should be moved on in the summer. he’s hit a standstill and i don’t think we’ll see much better from him

Carrick has zero confidence in Jones who is now at best a back up squad player. May get an FA Cup start but I would be amazed if he got anywhere near a starting position.

This ...

Wonderful player , as is Mcgree at this level..
However bordering on insanity to think of them as ' regular starters '

Vids made 101 appearances for us across 3 seasons. 21 in an injury impacted first season 04-05,43 in 05-06 and 37 in 06-07
He played on average 34 matches a season in a squad that had Hasselbaink, Yakubu, Maccarone, Nemeth, Christie, Job.
As well as being the best striker to pull our shirt on in my lifetime.
