I'd start Jones on Saturday

Controversial, I know. I just don't think Jones should be forgotten about. On his day he is a match winner. Good at tracking back and 'clever' at drawing free kicks and penalties.

Lath and Conway are constantly being rotated. Let's keep Jones match sharp. He can be important to us.

If I'm backing a player to win us the match between Doak and Jones. It's Doak.
The more games we flog Doak for a full 90 minutes the less frequently he's able to do this though. Need him to go into the Burnley home game fully firing, not off the back of playing consecutively against Millwall, Plymouth and Wednesday.
Doak is comfortably the better player, however Jones will have to play a part over this period.

I agree his time needs to be managed but should maybe look at changing him earlier in games.

No way should Jones start on Saturday.

If Doak needs a rest or is unavailable, then it should be Forss to come in. Not sure why Forss wasn't on the bench, surely he can't have picked up yet another injury?

Carrick mentioned in his pre-Leeds press conference that he had picked up a "niggle."

Yeh, I tend to agree. It's got to the point now where Forss is so unreliable from a fitness POV that we might need to cut our ties with him.

When he's fit, he's one of our best goal threats.

But the lack of availability he offers, he just doesn't seem to be worth it.

Forss is a great finisher, but sadly not good enough to score from the treatment table.

i'd start Jones from time to time t keep Doak fresh. plus Doak is a heck of threat coming on with 20 minutes to o with fresh legs against a tired fullback.

Doak has to start when fit, he's levels above Jones.

I did have a thought whether in games against the top teams we should have reverted to a 3 at the back, and perhaps a 343 with Jones as wingback and Doak as left wing / inside forward could be a lethal counter-attack system (maybe Burgzorg on the other side). Not something Carrick is going to try though I think.

Forss has only played 3,220 minutes out of a possible 10,260 in the Championship for us since signing 2 and a half years ago, 31% of what was possible, and largely in the first season.

In the last 18 months, he's played 1,160 minutes of a possible 5,940.
Less than 20%.

He's missed the squad entirely in 38 of the last 66 league games, and most of the matches he did make the squad he was coming back from injury and not match fit.

When fit, great finisher and a great player, but he's never fit.

Why invest perious time in doak when he is not our player he will be gone back to Liverpool next season or sold for mad money all because we helped develope his game at the expense of jones . IT tells you a lot about carrick .

3 points are worth the same whoever we win them against. Resting players against weaker teams and then playing full strength against stronger teams doesn't always make sense unless your back-ups are good enough to guarantee you beat the weaker teams. Chances are our 2nd string players won't get the results against the weaker teams and then our 1st string won't get the results against the stronger teams either. You could get more points by beating all of the weaker teams and losing against the better teams.

We're not good enough to rest players. We need our best players as often as possible.

The Jones of old would win us games. Sadly we have not seen that player for a long time. I don't know why. I hope it is temporary and that it is not because all of his exciting carefree creative play has been coached out of him.

Doak should start if fit to do so.
