I like Connolly.

Don't think Sporar has done himself any favours at all.
He was poor tonight and offered very little, bar one admittedly good shot from outside the box.

Watmore ran about and then missed a huge chance at the end, he's better as an impact sub right now.

I'd go back to Balogun and Connolly against Hull.

100 percent.

Not moaning and whining. Just the first time I think this manager got his selection wrong. An opinion. Just like the heaps of praise I've given since he arrived.
I'm also reluctant to criticise Wilder because he's gone an amazing job up to now but I agree, Connolly and Balogun have finally shown signs in recent games that they're finding their feet and are coming good, so for me they both had to start tonight. Balogun in particular had to start considering his recent form, and knowing tonights' game was televised would have given him an even bigger incentive to impress and put in a big performance.

I hope it was a tactical decision on Wilders' part and he didn't decide to rest them, because it's disappointing if it was about giving them a rest. They're young lads.

I thought Watmore played well and was more of a nuisance than Connolly normally is. What happened to the in the know people on here who said Sporar wasn’t playing cos of clauses in his contract and Watmore can’t play 90 minutes ?

but I just can't see AC grabbing a goal on a day when the rest of the team don't play well and pinching us a result we don't really deserve. While he's in the side the midfield need to do a great job creating chances each and every match and it still sometimes won't be enough even if they do.

👆 Mitro last night. Obviously any champo club would want him cause of the outrageous goalscoring record for the season. But even just taking his performance on one night, he got very few chances, playing for the side that probably deserved to lose, but right in a period where it was against the run of play he pops up with a great header and steals them the result. That's what I think we're lacking. We're very rarely winning league games we don't deserve to.

The comments slating Watmore and Sporar after last night are stupid imho. Realistically AC wouldn't have put away the chance that dropped to Watmore.

I thought Sporar and Watmore did well, as they had done when starting together in December and against Man U and Spurs. We did not miss the other two lads at all. They would have done absolutely nothing with the first half the way we were set up and approached things. As the wing backs became wing backs we bossed the second half and finished like a train. Interestingly, both Sporar and Watmore ended the game strongly and we were flying.
Our problems were with the original selection at wing backs. Wilder talked about disappointment in players not believing enough after the match. If Jones could not play it was very strange to see both Taylor and Peltier start as wing backs. Things started to happen when Bola came on and Tav and him replaced Peltier and Taylor. Some insist on giving Wilder credit for changing things. I would ask why he started with that selection.

Still, the team certainly deserved to beat the runaway league leaders who frankly didn't look the best team to come here this season. Leaving Mitrovich for the free kick was very poor defending, but other than that, we held them really comfortably. I left the stadium angry we had lost, not disappointed by anybody, just angry at what I felt was an injustice.
I do also believe that the referee had his pants taken down by Fulham all over the pitch.

If both can play saturday (and presuming Jones can not play), then I would start Bola and Tav as wing backs and bring McGree into midfield. Balogun and Coburn to come on later.
If Jones can play then Bola and him as the wing backs will cause Championship teams nightmares. Balance at last.
