I dont understand the vitriol towards Cattermole.

The biggest reason Cattermole is getting bad reactions is the experience of Woodgate. Plenty of fans could see the Woodgate decision ending badly and so it proved. Appointing Cattermole would almost certainly end up the same way.

On a personal level. I don't know Cattermole so have no bad feelings to him. I remember him being a very good footballer and very much underrated by many. He was brilliant at times for Boro and there's a good reason Mackems love the lad. He was brilliant mainly for them too.

Despite Lee Cattermole the footballer, it would still be a shocking decision from Gibson and shows he has learnt nothing from giving Woodgate the job. Also, what's the point in having a DOF if the job goes to an ex-player coaching the U18's? I reckon Scott isn't thinking along those lines.

This.

Nothing personal with Cattermole but we’ve seen it before with Southgate and Woodgate.

It stinks of the easy, cheap, parochial, unimaginative, panic buy and deeply unambitious option. All the worst of Gibson in one. You can’t just give it to any random ex-Boro player in a tracksuit every time you fire a manager and fail to prepare to find another one, or can’t handle a manager who knows their business and will stand up to you.

If he’s seriously in the frame for the job, it makes an absolute mockery of any sort of strategy we’re trying to apply to the club.
Very well articulated. And the fans will not be fooled anymore by any bluster trying to promote Cattermole as an 'Exciting, visionary ex player with the drive and experience to take this club to where it wants to go, who understands fully the clubs aims. etc etc' We need experience at this level and an appointment that shows we mean business, rather then just accepting middle of the table mediocrity. We are Boro, after all. UTB.

Cattermole went to Holland to learn his coaching and do his badges.

Our other ex-player Gary O'Neil did he training and badges at Liverpool - Woodgate took him to Bournemouth, and look at him now, exceeding all expectations and getting points on the table in the English premiership - we all know how difficult that is.

i think there will be a few new faces available for appointment after this weekend's football results.

Look at this way.. spent the majority of his career as a captain in the premiership.. and has since impressed as manager of the youth set up.. he’s actually a really good candidate if you’re looking for young and English 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rob Edwards seemed like a shoe in from the off, maybe a bit too close to Keiran Scott?
I get the feeling that Lee Cattermole has impressed and quite possibly would have been the main guy with Steve Agnew assisting. The reaction from fans led to a quick statement from the Gazzette back peddling NO, NO, WERE STILL MEETING WITH CARRICK.. GIBSON IS LITERALLY EATING A MEAL WITH HIM NOW!!

West Brom had a shortlist of THREE and we’re are led to believe that we’re interviewing over 50 people for the job?

The 50 you're quoting included all the potential back-up staff and coaches being proposed by those being considered for manager. Not 50 potential managers.
Still sounds like bullshine on behalf of the EG mind.

What utter horseshyte conjecture.

Used to see him out in the casino at Teesside Park with another couple a few times in the early days of his career. I'm not a betting fan so I watch other people bet. I always thought he wasn't getting carried away with his betting and was sensible.
Once saw a bloke sat at the blackjack table with no socks on. Looked again and he was the only person on the table playing 2 hands @£250 a hand. Looked again and realised it was Geremi.

I was surprised with the 12 to be honest and thought that would include assistants and coache.

There's people saying they'd like Leadbitter yet scoff at Cattermole. Why?

Perhaps they think lower league experience is the way forward for a potential manager but for me Cattermole looked more the winner on the pitch and played most of his career at the top level, he now has a bit of coaching experience. He didn't hang around on the pitch until his mid 30's either. He called time when he knew it was up, speaks volumes.

Ohhhh -I'm sure you would find something to 'rage' about with the football club, that wasn't to your satisfaction, and list them as; 'justifiable fears' - shirt numbers, grass colour, sauce manufacturer, wrong type of tree outside the ground, poor brick design, reflections in windows, wrong type of Red, players haircuts, traffic jams, egg banjo's & the water flushing system in the mens toilets.....and so on and so on and so forth.
The brick design is terrible like. Sick of being lied to by the club about it!

And Steve F***ing Agnew is a specialist in failure.

The Cattermole speculation alone you can laugh off as “oh yeah, it’s that point in the cycle where we search far and wide for a new manager before appointing anyone at the club with a TS postcode who can work PowerPoint, before they get fired after 4 months with us in the relegation places and we appoint a dinosaur as firefighter” but adding Agnew to the mix makes a dream ticket of *****.

Record as Boro manager: played 11, won 1. If that’s good enough to earn you another job at Boro then I’d honestly have Nobby as Director of Football 😂

And the 1 was Sunderland (who were somehow even worse than us in our last PL season and we were both already relegated) so not sure it really counts.
