I’m officially worried now

I think we'll be fine.
Not with that midfield. Not one game this season we have controlled the midfield area, continually stretched, over run or by passed. And we do not have any options (apart from Luongo??) to easily change this.

Too slow. No creativity. Too often happy to play either the easy short sideways pass, or the mad Hollywood ball. Movement is absolutely chronic.

Definitely our Achilles heel

We are 8th in the league for goals scored and that is when admittedly we are playing total dog crap. We'll be fine.
But also second worst defence in the Championship........😬😬

Combine it all, unless there is an immediate massive improvement after the international break, an up and down mid table season is what we will be looking at.

By "fine" you mean not getting relegated, right......😁😁

Without loan players we still have a side which should be comfortably mid table. In fact, we still have the bulk of the side that ended up just outside of the playoffs last year.

We could have the below side with no loan players:

Roberts
Jones
Dijksteel
Fry
Clarke
Bola
Crooks
Howson
McGree
Watmore
Forss

Many sides in this division would kill for that team.

Whilst I hope Wilder can turn things around, I think that a) his unwillingness/inability to change his style to suit the players we have and b) his public criticism of players for being unable to do what he wants is hurting us.

Thank you for that
It really ought to put to bed the nonsense that the squad isn’t good enough to be doing far better.

Wilder‘s job is to get the best out what he has got and recognise, like other managers, you can’t have everything you want.

Currently, we have 2nd worse defensive record in the league (and only 3/4 teams in the whole of the 4 divisions have conceded more), we are 9th for scoring and have little creativity in midfield.
Result - 4 wins in 18 and a manager who thinks he can spout all sorts of rubbish at press conferences (having a go at the Cardiff manager after they walked away 3-2 winners - FFS)

Put that alongside the Burnley fiasco which he chose not to put to bed quickly and I’m
not really sure what Gibson is waiting for.

I think Gibson is a bit concerned he will get the reputation for being a chairman who happily sacks managers after two defeats. The northern Watford. Wilder goes and the new manager will be manager No. 7 since Karanka "left" March 17 (8 if you include Craig Liddle.......)
😳😳

I though the Morison comments were extremely disrespectful - tactically they did a proper job on us first half. Someone on twitter broke the Cardiff tactics down in pictures and there was no arguments. We were done good and proper. But Wilder couldn't even hold his hands up, instead had a dig at Morison - poor, very poor.

A lot of guesswork and stretches of the imagination are starting to get repeated as if they are true on this thread. It’s always the same, at every club. Hit a rough spell, as we are, and alsorts of rumours start as fans try to find reasons why we are struggling, other than footballing ones. Manager had a meeting with a different club, So and so has fallen out with so and so, manager isn’t picking players just to send a message to the club, the players don’t believe in what they are being asked to do etc.
Most of the time this stuff is utter nonsense.
Sometimes teams just have bad patches. We’ve got a lot of new faces in the squad, we’ve lost a key midfielder and Wilder has been let down by the club re transfers. It’s just not clicking for us yet.
Let’s just use this international break to reset and see if we can’t come back and kick off the season again. Going to be a long two weeks…

And like I said a few posts up we need to sort the defence out. Last night looked better.

Cardiff was an obvious line in the sand. We wanted to see action from the team. It wasn't a win but we didn't concede. Let's see how we appear after the break before we lose our minds like a bunch of deranged geordies.

And the strange thing is despite all these 'rumours' if we believe Wilder and the players the sprit is high and everyone is working to improve. I think the 2nd half performance at Cardiff and last night show that.

It might just be time, as supporters, that we support the team through this spell. I heard booing last night at full time - I hope I was mistaken as that clean sheet was important.

Boos were pretty clear on TV. I'm going to put it mostly down to frustrations to two completely underwhelming home performances.....

Agree with all that. And I'm not convinced either will turn out to be worse than Connelly was last season and yet he got loads of game time.
Problem with that is Connolly was Wilders choice, and it proves how pig headed, stubborn he is, kept playing Connolly week in week out, and he was plain awful.
This season he was going to move on Watmore, and only kept him because we didn't sign another striker, and he was the only spark last night.

Hoppe scored in the Bundesliga, come on he's obviously got something
There must be hidden agendas and power struggles going on behind the scenes, has to be hence some strange decisions by Wilder.
Must be trying to prove a point.
Yeah I want to see Hoppe given a chance now. Also Kavanagh to get some minutes too. Whilst Watmore put himself about last night he should have easily scored at least one out of those two golden chances to score. The volley was schoolboy stuff. The only thing Rotherham could have done to make that an easier goal to score would be for the keeper to walk into the goal with the ball in his hands.
