I’m going to go out on a limb here

A game we could have won if we had scored at least one more in the first half when we were on top. Watmore's was a really bad miss he should score that all day long.

However we would have lost that game last year in the 2nd half with Lumley or Daniels in goal. Steffen saved us the point in the end.

100%
Zack Steffen is/will be our best goalkeeper since Mark Schwarzer. He is far too good to be playing in the Championship in my opinion. He is far better than I expected as an actual goalkeeper. The save he made with his face in the second half was too notch. His pace off his line to make himself big and close down the angle was absolutely top level.

FWIW I thought Steffen’s save from Wallace’s effort - deffo a chip attempt as he looked goalwards before he hit it - was great, good footwork and a good hand. However his initial distribution effort was dreadful and his initial position was poor as he had time to have retreated a couple of paces before Wallace hit it. He even acknowledged his error to the defence when he got back to his feet. He made a very good recovery in that instance and went on to look very assured. I think both he and Roberts will be very good signings for us, Steffens this term and Roberts next term. First time I’ve felt our keeper position isn’t an issue in a long time.

Love the way he saved it then pointed to himself that it was his fault for giving the ball away with a bad pass. Also loved the way at corners he literally dragged the defenders into the position he wanted them. (y)

Hope he remembers where his line is he seems to come well off it , if he knows he can make ut back no problem, just after previous keepers it makes you worry a bit . He made a couple of saves today we would of conceded last year . Given the keeper’s city have now Hel probably e up for grabs next summer .

You are not going out on a limb at all. You are right. Picked out by the Times this morning as a quality keeper.

I'm going to risk some serious pelters, I don't see what the commentators and everyone else was cooing about. He looked steady to me, a lot better than Lumley but that was a must anyway. Plenty of time left for him to make his case mind.

Shay Given for me, although he wasn’t here long obviously

Nobody should “risk” getting pelters. State your opinion and debate. That’s fine. Your opinion is as good as anyones. I firmly believe Steffen is the quality we need and it will so prove.

Yeah he's deffo a step up, I wouldn't say based on yesterday that I saw "best in the division level" not yet, but I saw a keeper that fits our system, is a definite step up, I saw a left winger that looks very good to compliment our right wing. Suprisingly I saw a very shaky back line, one that made me very nervous, and I saw an unbalance in midfield that needs addressing (probs down to tav going), there's a real lack of depth on the bench, and finally the obvious holes up front. There's a very exciting blueprint there but I wouldn't say we were close yet, lots of work to do over the next 4 weeks, if we get the 5 players Mr wilder wants I'd say well be a force, the difference between promotion and not could be how quickly we get these players theough the door as each player takes at least a month to get up to speed. If players come in at the end of the window we may be looking at end of September before we hit our stride.

The way Wilder spoke after the game I’m expecting 2 announcements tomorrow to be honest
