How long until Football is cancelled?

Tbh I said that last week.

I don't agree with it but it is being lined up with every little bit of communication that is being drip fed to us.
This, they usually wheel out the same faces in the run up to it and lets us know continually how bad it is, which is what they are doing, then the expected measures come into place. The Blackpool game could be our last game before stronger restrictions clamp down on us.

I think you are being hopeful about Blackpool to be fair, 2 weeks is a long time in this current plight.

Is it not inevitable now?

A January "circuit breaker" or will we even make it that far?

Won't get that far, a peak pre-christmas is already practically guaranteed, the only consolation is it should burn out extremely quickly.

I think we'll be in full national lockdown before New year.
I don't think so, they would have done it already.

It's too late now, infection is already so high and there will be a mass of mixing over Christmas which they can't stop, and people likely wouldn't listen even if the government tried to enforce it.

Takes time to plan for a lockdown, then enforce it, and then another week or two for it to take effect, by then we will already be at/ near a natural peak.

I'm not sure if healthcare would prefer a short/ sharp hit, or longer sustained pressure, but either way I feel really sorry for them. Need the booster wall to hold up very well.

I can see the whole Xmas period binned. I've got until 2359 tonight to cancel my hotel for Blackpool for refund.

I'm gonna cancel and just re-book somewhere else if I it goes ahead. It saves losing my £43 (a classy establishment 😂).

I agree with this. I do get the feeling that they were thinking about it yesterday, because otherwise last night's press conference was a waste of time; other than telling people that they were awfully busy protecting us, on the day before a by-election.

Thankfully my hotel booking is a flexible rate so can cancel up to midday on the date of travel.

If you cancel, you might find that the rate comes down, as loads of others probably will be cancelling too.

I can't imagine you would struggle to get something else for a similar rate, either way, unless the hotels just decide to shut, but I doubt they will od that unless the government fund them

Stop talking sense Andy. 👍🏻

Rishi is in California so I too don't think a lockdown is coming. Unless Johnson has found an extra few thousand coppers and deployed the army on the streets to control the potential civil unrest that would happen should places be shut down with no financial support.

Plus no such thing as a full national lockdown, folks will still be expecting their Amazon deliveries, food deliveries from various supermarkets and the lights and water to stay on.

I've canceled. Loads of places availible so not an issue if things 'clear up'..... That's not happing.

To be fair we were only going as I'm up north for Xmas. So probably have to return ticket if its binned as not driving from pompey to Blackpool on a random Tuesday night. I'm not that committed 😂

it could work in boros favour if football is cancelled until the newyear. Assuming they dont change the dates for the January window, we could be playing rearranged December fixtures with January signings.
That goes for the rest of the league aswell

If the new variant spreads quickly then there's possibly rather a lot more cases after the opening last night of the Ally Pally World Darts Championship. I almost felt I could catch it off our TV.
Seeing crowds like that is mad and I also thought that about the way the Boro fans were treated by the police at Stoke. If you ever wanted to infect large numbers, that was the way to do it.

What happens when the next variant rears its head then?

4th jab needed along with another lockdown?

Then after that, ANOTHER variant.....5th jab needed and another lockdown.

Repeat.

Because thats whats happening now.

We could just ignore it and let everyone get infected.

These are unprecedented times and the greatest minds in the world haven't got a clue how to eradicate it, maybe you could help.
